How do you date a hat?

I highly recommend reading this thread http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?61698-Vintage-Fedoras-by-Decade . It breaks down fedora specs by decade which will become pretty useful when buying vintage hats in the future.

How do you date a hat?

The Champ looks to be late '40s early '50s with that very wide brim. That triple stitching presents the high quality craftsmanship of the era. The Borsalino looks '60s or later.

Wonderful collection Big Man! I've really been wanting a '38-'53 Plymouth for a while and your '48 is a real gem!

DB 4 buttons and patched pockets

It evokes a toned down jazz suit! I like it a lot!

    The 1950s Suit

Jacket is a tiny bit roomy, but looks alright. I'll need replace to the missing buttons, but if I can't find anything that matches I may just move the top button and interior button to the front and make it a 4 button DB. Pants just need to be let out an inch or 2.

Typo, I posted a 1937 Hudson, but the '36 is still a nice looking car! Your Packard is glorious by the way!

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I'd say 1940's, early 1950's at the latest. The "to duplicate" labels of the '50s and later I noticed are less fancy, and it doesn't have a plastic cover on the liner.

Definitely '20s-'30s with that frayed ribbon and size sticker!

Need help: Era, locale, and approximate value of suit?

Definitely no later than the '30s. I'd imagine a suit like that would fetch a pretty penny.

    Show off the sports coats.

I think it definitely came with the vent, as it has that arrow shaped piece of lining on the inside.

    Show off the sports coats.

Orphan suit jacket. Unsure of exact age due to lack of union tag. The center vent throws me off in comparison to the typical 1940's specs. I know Harris tweed and belted back jackets in the '40s had them, but did suits have that option? Is this a transitional '50s example? It also has a lining...

NOS French 1960's does 1920's belted back jacket

Probably the best 1960's replication of a '20s/'30s jacket I've ever seen. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRENCH-1950s-MEN-LEISURE-SPORT-JACKET-FLECK-GABARDINE-MADE-IN-FRANCE-MINT-S-/310626286374?pt=Vintage_Men_s_Clothing&hash=item4852c4fb26
