And here is my ticket.
Purchased direct from the family of the man who WON this hat in 1956 or 57.
He won it for seed corn sales but never wore it as "it was not his style" so was shelved for 65 odd years or so.......is like it came from a time machine. I NEVER thought I would ever find one...
My new arrival (well, one of them anyway, been on a roll lately).
Mid-50's (pre-1956 when the price went up) $15 3XB OR w Last Drop liner.
REALLY great condition too!!!!!;)
I have three of their hats including an all beaver (their version of the "Poet"). They are OK hats but certainly for the price you can get a MUCH better hat elsewhere..........
And another found in a antique shop.....more here:

And another hat find in an antique shop..........Child's western. "ElRancho Grande"
No I cannot show the back, sweat is too stiff....
Originally sold for $1.95
:)
The reference to sewing your crease in place (no sewing) on the box, is interesting.......AND I remember you and that great find every time I use one of these to these purpose.......what can I say....it works. And yes, I "soften" it up some, and remove the hing bars after I set it.
I love everything about the hat!!!
And for the catalog page, that crease in 327..........hmmmmmmm........may have to do some work on one of mine, now to find a clip.
Yep, that too.....and of course, "re-sizing" them which often involves cutting both mentioned and then coupled with a re-blocking which often changes the crown depth and brim width and completely destroys the integrity of the original.
