Sweet, sweet finds! Ironically i just scored a 3X Last Drop OR (7 1/2 LO), mine is missing the wind cord but, as they say "I got that" and will replace it.;)
The 1684 tag is most certainly a dry cleaners or hatters tag.
When customers peice are brought in they are all individually tagged and recorded to invoice for each customer.
If the sweat was separated from the hat the hat would have the same number marked inside it to keep track (probebly on...
Are you sure it is not a very thin felt then (scratching the inside surface will tell you)? They pressed the crowns of those in hydraulic presses......I posted an image of the process some time ago. Also, often the unlined hats were shellacked on the inside (which would create a plastic like...
That is a purpose built cheap parade or festival hat. Not a "real" hat by any means. Doubt it is a Stetson. All I have seen have not been marked beyond an occasional centennial or town festival markings.....I have seen versions dating back to the 30's or so.......though the older ones tend to...
It is a nice hat BUT does not need to be thrown into threads where it does not belong, all Willy Nilly, in AN EXPRESSED EFFORT TO SELL IT (or trade). It needs to go to the classifieds......
Montgomery Wards, Fall & Winter 1950-1951......
Here is are the regular men's hats. Interesting is they had the same number of Westerns as shown above.
From the net, always liked this image.

Got this a couple of weeks ago. A Mid-century Italian Neapolitan (Cuccuma) coffee maker. Design goes all the way back to the early 19th century created by a Frenchman, and was enthusiastically adopted by the Italians (who still make them). They have since been surpassed in popularity by the...
Me too actually. We have had a couple more like your show up with the same bound edge and ribbon treatment, one recently that that generated a lot of discussion.
It could still be a Longhorn with a ribbon change by Stetson or aftermarket (just like we do now) but with at least three on the...
Today's find: a Toast-O-Lator made in 1948. Originally designed in the late 1930's, this version (Model J) introduced in the mid -40's.
The bread goes in on the right and is conveyed to the left through the toaster!!! It is a conveyor toaster.....really!;)
I don't think it is a Longhorn. Give me some time, but I think I have a catalog that has your hat with the same ribbon and dimensions......
In any event GREAT GET!!!!;)
From a Facebook Post, Not mine, but had to share!;)
GREAT image!!!
