    The Dobbs Diner...

I cannot remember when it was first introduced. I know Stetson was fooling around with their felted edge (and other brim treatments) in the thirties. I have a thirties Dobbs with the Cavanaugh edge...it is very narrow....but other than that is just like the later versions. The sweat is...

I had never seen this either.....but they have to be around don't they? I mean most every hat shop should have had one...like my shop had similar button trays. The Other Open Roads.....

Biltmore 4 X Quality "Wilderness" in "Fawn" with 2 3/4 bound brim, 5 5/8 open crown. VERY soft fine felt. I love the contrast colored trim and the "Swallow Tail" cut to the ribbon ends. I put in a Truman pinch.

    Photos of hatters tools

Circa 1900. These attached (glued) to the lining tips of stiff hats as a rule (Soft hats required letters clipped to the sweat so they would not fall off). These letters and eagles are the of the glue on variety. Plain black stiff paper covered board box, hinged with silk stops, no markings...
