nice storage space. everyone has their methods but I definitely don't recommend storing your hats on the crown like that. I know some suggest it but over time you will end up with worn areas on the creases of the felt and also flat spots in the nap. Store them on the brim if on a flat surface...- moontheloon

once you alter the brim there is kind of no going back unless you seek a professional re flange... that is simply a disclaimer ... and even after the re flange it is very possible that the hat will never be the same.
