    Yup, it more the bunching that I’m trying to avoid. Too much bunching is not comfortable and it distorts the boot too much.

    I get that reasoning, but to me they are that cool. I also don’t HAVE to modify them. I can cinch the instep down maximally and achieve the same effect, but I’d rather not do that.

    I added the felt to the instep and it keeps my heel from slipping.
