    A gifted Vintage Stetson hat

You have the same resources at your disposal as we do. It's not always possible, actually I would even say it's usually not possible to ID a specific hat model if it isn't branded as such.

Akubra Stylemaster Mystery - Is it Acorn Fawn or Bluegrass green?

Whatever it is, that's not Bluegrass green. I can't say for certain, but I doubt the liner color has much to do with anything.

Finding a hat for a dark navy suit

The username finally clicked for me. You may appreciate this one: Maybe not a long hair per se, but a lighter color like Silverbelly could work.

Finding a hat for a dark navy suit

The Public Enemies Dillinger suit was navy....

    Hat making?? Learning Millinery..

No, I'm talking about stuff like this: He doesn't appear to be actively making hats after some kerfluffle, so I don't feel bad naming this as a Gunner Foxx hat. I get the spots from the top of my ears on some hats, and this is not that.

Stetson hat ID possible governor's hat

That handwritten tag is presumably not a factory tag. The other reorder tag doesn't match the reorder tags on my mid century Stetsons. (new sweatband, original tags) Also, the sweatband would have been branded and would have been a wider width in the 50's. Pretty sure this one is 40's: So...

    Hat making?? Learning Millinery..

I don't mind that people are straying away from traditional designs and grosgrain bows (more ribbon for the rest of us). I wouldn't personally wear a good chunk of these modern styled hats, but no grudge against them. No item of clothing stays the same in perpetuity. Bob at BSHW has a packet of...

Strand Hatters - Sydney - Worst New Hat Order Ever

If you elect to keep them, definitely try steam to smooth out the ribbons. But you also can use an iron on the ribbon. If you can sew, just pop the stitches, iron out the ribbon, sew it back on. It shouldn't be your problem to deal with, but it can definitely dealt with relatively easily.

Ask a question, get an answer

Sovereign grade was ditched in the Deckard era, so a 2014 sale is not out of the question. But I agree that the box is older. They were using the grey and white boxes back then, because I remember being slightly disappointed they didn't do special boxes for the 150th anniversary.

*HELP NEEDED* Trying to identify this hat

The pictures have gone dead, but this is an archived version of the Goorin site from 2010. If you click through the descriptions, you might find your model name. https://web.archive.org/web/20101220031005/http://www.goorin.com/?q=hats/ballcaps

Quality comparison among Resistol 4X, Stetson 4X, and Akubra Heritage Collection

If those are your choices, pick an Akubra. Modern Stetson and Resistol are, as far as I can tell, the same. They're coming out of the same factory with different branding. 4x, currently, is wool. Don't buy a wool hat. I was going to recommend a custom wool from Knudsen, but looks like that's...

More than a wind or rodeo strap?

So this article is about 10 years old, so not sure if this email will work, but the guy who made the hats for 1923 is based on Montana and works out of a camper. https://www.truckcampermagazine.com/camper-lifestyle/a-man-of-many-hats/

    Hats on TV

This piece on folks searching for evidence of Tasmanian tigers features an appropriately eclectic guy in what looks like an Akubra Cattleman.

Hornskov Hats - custom Danish hatter

Someone in the FB group said Hornskov might be one of the best hatters out there, I replied that he used pre-pounced FEPSA blanks*. Well, Peter saw that and said something along the lines of "because I choose to use the best, doesn't mean I can't work with anything else" (again, paraphrasing). I...

This Borsalino factory tour came across my YouTube recommendations. Didn't realize Borso was still felting their own bodies.

    Straw Open Road

Presumably the hemp ones are a bit more forgiving, but the shantung straw ones will definitely not just snap down. Shantung western do get shaped, so if you steam it, you could probably turn the brim down.

    Short Brimmed Cowboy

Whether or not one considers it an appropriate hat for the working cowboy, these shorter brims are not unheard of and were certainly fairly common mid century offerings. Walt Disney had one too. The hat I wear like 60% of the time now, 7xCB: One of those hats in the Austral/BOP lineage:
