All this zombie stuff makes me recall the mid 1980s when my friends and I thought that a nuclear war was just around the corner. We were what was called at the time Survivalists and we had all this stuff ready for real. Forget zombies, we were worried about the Soviets. We all saw a film made at the time called Threads, couldn't be any worse than a zombie attack. I still have some of my stuff, so if your zombies do come out to play I, for one, will be ready!!

That's a good movie. Threads, The Day After and this other one... Failsafe, right! Man, those movies scared me more than any zombie scenario.

The real issue would be where you were living when the apocalypse happened. Living in your environment would be more important than surviving zombie bites.

To keep it as versatile as possible, I would wear my RMC red silk A2 because it would offer decent protection and warmth when needed, is comfortable, and most importantly, is quite cool and would allow it to be worn even when it's warm. This would allow me to not have to store my jacket in warm weather (at least, not when it's too warm.) Under that, I'd just wear a normal t shirt, average weight jeans, and probably my Lofgren sneakers because comfort and the ability to run would outweigh the ability to kick zombies. I'd also want my Tatton Baird hat and one of my pairs of sunglasses from Globe Specs because I don't go anywhere without sunglasses.

Failsafe...that the black and white one? Terrifying. If the populace spent as much time discussing/denouncing atomic bombs/nuclear foolishness as stupid zombies the world just may live on. I hope I get bit.

You mean these?
Looks real nice.
One of the rare cases where sneakers can go well with A2 leather jackets.
Now I have to buy these thanks to you...

Speaking of Lofrogen, I really want this beast.
Just look at that welt and toe shape...
I went to Self Edge Portland and saw the Lofrogen engineer boots in dark brown suede a year ago.
I still regret that I didn't buy them to this very day.

Close, but I actually have the self edge hi tops which still fit in the "look as good with leather as boots do" category.
They look like this:

Yeah, the boots are incredible. I LOVE the unique last and the storm welt combo.

The natural cxl is fantastic due to the aging properties.

Both the trainer and the boots look amazing.

Natural cxl is a real deal. I'd like to see that boots after 10 years of wear.

Given that the zombies would be slow zombies, not the ridiculous fast zombies, I agree that the weather and environment is going to be the biggest threat to most survivors. All you gotta do is get soaked by rain on a cool day once without being ready for it and you probably won't survive, even if the nearest zombies are a hundred miles away.

Great idea for a thread! In a modern world that's rather troubled and neurotic, it's good to have something light hearted to muse on.
But what I'd wear when all hell breaks loose? I honestly wouldn't care if I was doing an Arthur Dent and wearing pyjamas and slippers - just as long as I have some 12 gauge Zombie Max (by Hornady. Yes, for real!) in the Mossberg 500 Rolling Thunder, it'd be all matters on the day!

Good point. But do Zombies use flame throwers?

Why not? Anything goes in fiction.

More seriously, even leather isn't going to protect you from a flame thrower blast. That said, you may find yourself building fires or traversing terrain with burning buildings or objects in them, though.
I wouldn't wear leather. It's heavy and hot. I'd probably wear mostly cotton.
