So just curious what is the one item that you love the most and is the deciding factor of your attire? Be it a hat, a set of cufflinks, a tie etc. etc. Since moving to the sunny south 3 years ago I have fallen in love with all sorts of vintage sunglasses. Though my collection is small it is growing.

Collarbars! The collarbar is, what I believe, the one part of the outfit that sets me apart from some other guy wearing a suit and tie. Also, it tightens things up and pops the tie. It also makes the shirt look better fit. If I am not wearing a wide-spread collar, I am most likely going to be wearing a collarbar. -Shaw

Ah man, you would have loved this antique store here in beaufort that closed not too long ago, some really nice 1950s era collar bars, lots of them too, ranging from 3-7 dollars a piece. I know the dealer that had them, if he still has them I'll see if I can get the lot of them for ya.

Well, as far as accessories go, I am known on campus for my hats and my bowties, although I love knit ties and always am on the lookout for more. I do have a weakness for non-elastic suspenders. I cannot resist a pair.

Also, I pretty much only wear white shirts, and almost always have a vest, but those aren't accessories.

That would be fantastic. I have a few modern ones from my fathers store. Some vintage would be really klazz though.

I am a non-elastic man myself, look up Trafalgar Suspenders/Braces on the Bay, they have them new at Nordstrom <also Knit ties.

I have never seen anyone in this day and age wear a monocle (I don't think I even know anyone who owns one).

Can I see yours, TCMfan?

Too tired for photos, but I can tell you I purchased it from a local Antique Mall that I frequent, It is in Pristine condition, real gold and a thin black silk cord/string, +3 magnification, it came in a small glasses case made by (faded but I think it is correct) Kaufmann Optical 1934 for Jameson something, the location is completely gone.

I love it! And for $25 I was happy :).

When you're a bit perkier, I'd like to see photos, if it's alright. I had a chance to buy a monocle once, but I stupidly passed up on it. Should've snatched it when I had the chance.

Non-Costumes are few and far between, but when you find a great one, you need to act on it. :)

I forget why I didn't buy it. I think it was because at the time, I couldn't think of a use for it. But a magnifying monocle always has a use (especially for someone like me!)

I have two, one with a gold rim and black cord, and a rimless one. I have only seen two other people wearing one, a gent I saw at a petrol station and an employee at the British Library.

Ya know, some days it's a hat. Some days it's a fountain pen or a pair of shoes. Basically, I have a weakness for accessories, generally. Lately, I've been pining for two very cool pairs of bucks, one pair in blue suede and one in brown and white.
