Here you come with
your lips closed tight
you never smile
you know it
wouldn't look right
'Cause your dentures glow
in ultra-violet light
you're the oldest
swinger in town
oldest swinger in town.

And you look so mean
'cause your pants
are too tight
you're the oldest
swinger in town
And it takes you all night
to do what you used
to do all night
you're the oldest
swinger in town...
You got it G ;) good old Fred eh

I've been "feeling my age" a lot lately. Finding I can't do the things I used to do with as much ease as I used to do them. Some things, I just flat out can't do anymore. Gray hairs are popping up on my head and on my face. I've always been known as the "young guy" in my business, in my hobbies, etc. That's not a thing anymore.

Another thing that makes it hard is seeing all the people (granted, they're all much older than me) that were part of my life growing up, passing away. It seems like every day, there's another person I know with their obituary in the paper. Another one that really has hit me way harder than I expected, was my dad turning 65 last month.

Besides all that, my wife and I got married on the older side. We were both closing in on 30, and then didn't have our son until a couple years later. So, while many of my friends and classmates have kids in middle and even high school, we have a toddler. I'm fearing the day I get guessed as his grandpa....

Now you’re bumming me out.

Old Bob? Listen, I sure am old, I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees been checked for prostate and diabetes problems. I'm half blind and so deaf that I can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine.

I take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. I've had bouts with dementia, have poor circulation and can hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 58. I've lost all my friends, but, thank heavens, I've still got my driving license.

Amen to that, , but given half a chance I can still misbehave Eric Idle ;)

Old age for beginners by Clive Whichelow, his observations are hilarious.

I remember old people telling me, when I was closer to your age now, that among the harder aspects of old age is losing so many friends and loved ones along the way. Now that I’m the age they were then, I’ve found that to be true. Most of my favorite people are gone now. And I’m only kinda old. I mean, hell, my mother is still with us. She’s a nonagenarian, true enough, but she’s still on the other end of the phone call.
