You know you are getting old when:

The weather forecast is for freezing (barely) temperatures late at night, so I’ve been bringing in the houseplants that spend the warmer months out on the deck.
Those large pots seem heavier than they did a few months ago.
Perhaps, the plants got larger and heavier. I have a similar problem with my aquarium. I have to constantly add water because the fish drink so much.

Let’s not even talk about clipping your own toenails. “Yoga” as I call the procedure.
A few weeks ago my wife and her sister coaxed me into getting a pedicure. Oh my gosh, sitting in a comfy massage chair while someone else cuts your toenails! And then they apply lotion to your feet and ankles! I could get used to this. My upstanding self says that such luxury is somehow wrong, yet I know I’ve been given the equivalent of a free sample of an addictive drug.

Some guy said to me: ‘Don’t you think you’re too old to sing rock n roll?’ I said: ‘You’d better check with Mick Jagger.'” Cher.

I’ve been seeing a podiatrist every three months for the past couple years, to keep the nail fungus in check and to carve out the calluses that form on the balls of my feet and can make walking painful when that hardened skin presses against nerves. The podiatrist trims my nails and then takes a Dremel tool to ‘em. I apply a tolnaftate concoction to those nails daily, and now two years in the fungus is getting close to cleared. The oral medication is not advised for people with my other conditions, so the slow route is what I’m left with.

But yeah, it’s nice to have another person tend to my toenails.
