I think, I must be one of the last old-fashioned 30+ boys, who still loves and appreciates lye pretzels/buns/rolls.

When I see some on a bakery shop, WE ARE THE PRETZELS, RESISTANCE IS FUTILE! :)

...you come home, immediately collapse on the couch and don’t even....

If its Friday, I fix a whiskey over ice, put some Billy Eckstine or Etta James on,
and realize that I need to handicap the horses for tomorrow so I cannot sleep for awhile,
forget dinner entirely, and ask myself if I am ever going to act like a mature responsible adult.
Maybe after Vegas next week I'll turn a new leaf.

Naw, ain't even gonna happen.;)

Isn’t Vegas more kind of a cruise liner in the sand meanwhile?

That was my typical Friday evening muse speaking. Covid quarantine, some rescheduled eye surgery,
and other things have upended Vegas probably until fall. I do like the Venetian, six or seven hundred
hands of Stud poker, a slice of prime rib, zeroing an M-14 at a local gun range, Four Roses bourbon,
and chaste chasing some skirt. Vegas will always be Vegas.;)

A gambler adjusts and adapts, makes the desert terrain work to his advantage.
And the Venetian is most advantageous.
Actually, owning stock in a Las Vegas hotel, particularly one on the strip, is even more advantageous. Mom and Dad met when they were both working for Anthony "The Admiral" Cornero Stralla on his cruise ship/casino The Rex, and at some point Mom acquired shares in the Stardust hotel/casino. Not much by today's standards, but enough to pay for the house Mom and Dad bought in 1951.

Andrew's Pitchfork drawn against Elliot's Five Wave Count and Fibonacci Retracement at 37.5; 50; 61.8
and cognizance of the applicable fundmentals most definitely.
As Bernard Baruch sagely summed: "All of life is a speculation.";)

While visiting that excellent thread, The Era---Day by Day, I noted both the Chicago Tribune
and The Daily News, long ago I delivered the Trib, and, if memory is right, either the Daily News
or its afternoon successor, The Daily American, or just perhaps The American.

These were afternoon editions, piled and stacked in Radio Flyer red pull wagons.
Chicago paper routes-this was a South Paulina Avenue run-were more hereditary fiefdoms
handed down among families and close friends. I broke in as an assistant to a pal, $2.00 weekly
plus tips every other week. And spots outside churches on Sunday like Little Flower parish church
were zealously guarded. Any infringe would deliver a knuckle sandwich. Proprietary rights
similarly bequeathed by street law hereditary privilege. If the Cardinal Archbishop had attempted
to hawk papers outside Little Flower, he'd be buying a ring ticket for himself.

And if you prowled the papers along the streets, in Chicago a paperboy had to climb up the
back stairs of all apartment buildings. Long time ago, but Chicago was a racket down to the
bottom of the street sewers.
