Six feet, or so, under? Uh-uh! Didn't make that threat! Not me!
Thank you for adding to the confusion!

That's how I remember it!

I finally found out that it was a 1930s Hawthorne bicycle that James Dean rode
as a kid in Indiana.
Dean was in Marfa, Texas for Giant. But I was too young and
Davy Crockett (Fess Parker) was the rage for us kids.
Saw Fess Parker & Buddy Ebsen in person at the Majestic Theater
in San Antonio for the premier of the movie.
Ballad of Davy Crockett was a big hit on the AM radio.
I remember Buddy was the first on stage. And his first thoughts was explaining and jokingI saw them at the Majestic in Dallas for the same event. I remember they were both in costume but Buddy was wearing his gold wristwatch, somewhat reducing the authenticity.
My maternal grandfather claimed that if we ate our sandwich crusts (nothing that was ever an aversion to me) we could learn to whistle.Mom tried to convince me that they were made from cats that died from a bad disease.
You know you are getting old when you leave a funeral home and they say "come see us again soon!"

It's been at least 10 years now that I've found in my mailbox the occasional solicitation from funeral homes and the like. "Funeral Alternatives" is apparently a cut-rate cremation service. And then there are the full color ads on slick (and thick) paper stock featuring photos of the family of undertakers who wish for me to come in for "pre-planning," for my peace of mind and that of my loved ones.
Turn me into Soylent Green, please.
The older I get the more accepting I've become of the temporary nature of all things. It's a reluctant acceptance, admittedly, and I almost unconsciously seek evidence to the contrary. But nope -- nothing lasts forever.
