First snow!

It's snowing in Western New York, Northwestern Pa, and Northeastern Ohio! Plus other "Lee of the Lakes" areas. First snow of the year! Yikes!

Parents live in Bradford, PA, Aunt in Olean, NY

Currently not anything to speak of but they are expecting up to 4 inches this evening  My mom called laughing asking if she should take pictures or just save it in the freezer as I have been mumbling all summer about the heat here.

Times like this... I miss my home in Alaska.:(

Snow in New York I believe - what I don't believe is that we didn't get any snow here in Nebraska in October!

Everything is white here in Trondheim. We've had two snowfalls today, very picturesque.

Apparently we had flurries of snow last night here in northwest Iowa, but I didn't see it and it all melted before it touched the ground. So I don't know if that counts or not.

(When we do get lasting snow, however, I will definitely take pictures.)

I enjoy the snow vicariously myself, most of the time. Here's the webcam on the Chautauqua Institution Plaza. You can watch it for yourself.

I usually use the Mozilla browser, but Windows Internet Explorer has the ability to blow up the screen, so I use it for this, so I can fill up the screen. I pretend I have a blurry window I can look out of!

In my opinion, snow is highly over rated.;) This is one of last years snows.

Well I'll tell ya what, I was born and raised in south Flordia. SOMEONE ELSE CAN HAVE IT!:D I will take someones share of snow and cold, hardwood trees and hills (in some areas) they can have the traffic, 'snow birds' and b.s. 'bluehair' laws.

All my friends say it must have been nice growing up in the keys... I say, it must have been nice growing up in 4 seasons... pine trees that aren't trucked in, snow falls, falling asleep near the fireplace... yep, that is the life I want when I leave the DC metro area in a couple years.

Heck, now that I reread this, maybe this is a grass is greener thing. lol

Overrated

Where I grew up, everyone's usually pretty happy to see the first snow, but by mid January they're REALLY fed up. In New York City we average about 28 inches per year. In Chautauqua it's closer to 200, and more. I've seen 290 in a year. That's a bit much. The combination of snow, cold and darkness can REALLY wear down your spirits.

It is a matter of preference but I enjoy the four seasons.
Summer is fine for wearing linen clothes, straw hats, and open footwear. There comes a time when a cold wind moves in and the temperature drops. Time for leather jackets, tweed suits, and felt fedoras. Rain gives me an excuse to wear a trenchcoat and carry an umbrella. If there is enough snow on the ground and cold enough there are always boots, gloves, and scarves to keep warm in.
All the while complaining about the weather and looking forward to the next season.

Someone on the lounge thought I was overdressed for winter in my Avatar.
This is my evidence to the contrary....
