Congrats Bud,
Great looking lid, indeed. The color will be a perfect match for your green and white Mini Cooper:D

Thanks Woods, I know your sentiments are heart felt. For now I am quite content with my latest find. :D However as we have discussed before, a green Homburg could do double duty. It would compliment the Mini and look quite dashing at the Badminton tourney. Ah, but such events do not seem as popular here in Texas as in the northern tier. ;)

First off, great hat. Looks fantastic.
It should be noted Smithbilt was the first hat company to get a true white out of felt. If you look at the old movies the white hats are actually off white, never a true white.
Besdor: hate to disprove you but Smithbilt is still going strong. I am going down there in January to get a cowboy hat made up. Also Biltmore has had the RCMP contract for their hats for about five years now. What Smithbilt makes are traditional scouting hats. I have one of their "cheep" ones made of wool felt. Let me tell you, if Smithbilts idea of cheep wool felt was an industry standard, not many people would need to upgrade to fir. I have had this hat out on many scout camps over the past five years, in rain, snow, and sun, and it has never lost its shape, shrank or tapered.
Enjoy your hat Bud-N-Texas

Fun extra fact. The World Scouting Organization copyrighted the lemon squeezer year before the RCMP adopted it as a part of the official uniform. So the RCMP has a long standing contract with the WSO to use the hats without breaking copyright regulations.

Smithbuilt "canvas cattleman"

What's with the "canvas cattleman" on their website? Has anyone tried one? I suppose it could be a cooler weather version of the straw/palm, but just guessing. Could it be a rain hat; I could use a good rain hat. Ron
