I do not do advertising. I reserve, because it happens differently.
I sometimes look at ebay, because cool things happen.
In any case, I've spotted something the seller calls "RAF Aircrew Frock WW2".
And it really looks like a frock. It's long enough, there's something that looks like a mock neck ....
The link is here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RAF-Airc...e:g:wNcAAOSwAvNcYJUs:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true
In any case, I inform all fans of RAF sweaters and similar roll neck's.

I Just looked at that. From looking at it and the price, I Think that it may an original RAF Sweater from many years ago. If so, it would be very collectable.

That is a good colour and a bit different as I don't think that sweater has the shoulder or elbow patches? Hope you like it.
I have the Heather Mix with shoulder and elbow patches - like almost all my WPs. However I do have in my collection the Army, Navy and Black Welbecks without the patches (and so nearer some original WW2 versions) and the Heather Mix completes the collection. I wear them from time to time but prefer the patches versions (usually with Epps and pen pocket although I have all the various gradations of WP).

The Wool Black Submariner Roll Neck that I ordered a couple of days from Outdoor Knitwear using their discount arrived this morning, I am very pleased with it, it is quite heavy, about 1LB 10 &1/2 oz. The Roll Neck is snug which I like and just the right size for me, not too short and not too long either. I am wearing it now and as it is quite chilly again today, wore it when I had to go out to my local high street at lunch time. I was wearing my army woolly pully earlier.

I am 5ft 10 in & I would that the above mentioned sweater is quite long and does come down over my backside, I think my other sub roll necks are similar, I suppose when they are being used properly in Submarines in cold waters that would be for warmth.

This 'backside' discussion also arose in the thread aboutGuernsey sweaters. My submariner (from Silverman's) is a long sweater and does come down over my backside. The same is true, to a lesser extent, with my Guernseys, and with one of the OKW variants of the military Woolly Pully - the one with suede patches. I actually rather like this feature.

Sorry to lower the tone but the backside-covering wool sweaters we are discussing are great fart absorbers!

Recently watched the 1958 movie "Dunkirk:" check out the sweater (and the duffle coat):

Marvellous movie and that includes the sweaters - and Duffel Coat. Thanks Mr Fading Fast for reminding us of this.

Re. the middle photo: the front sweater is a standard Submariners’/Air Force; I’ve had one of these (bought from Silverman’s) for more years than I can remember. The middle sweater interests me - I’m not sure whether it is a specifically military sweater or not and wonder if a WW2 specialist could confirm its status! I used to have one exactly like it, supplied by Black Sheep Knitwear, but it shrunk in the wash or I put on weight, or both. ...

If it helps, the middle and last (farthest to our right) guys are not in the military with the impression being that those are "civilian" sweaters.

I’m obviously going to have to watch this movie again. But looking at the other two chaps it is fairly clear that they are civilians. (The sweater worn by The Third Man in the photo is again identical to a Black Sheep Knitwear sweater - but one I still have and still fits me!)

All this is making me look forward to the return of sweater weather.

I've been wearing my subs a lot for daily wear during this cold snap, esepcially the J PIck one which feels really lambswooly and sung. Just been reading through the recent posts and @Grandfather's Hat you seem to be as obssessed as me - some great info in your posts! I've just obtained an early-mid 80's J Pick sub and was quite surprised at how different it is to ny 70's Pick jersey. It's seems a lot closer to the Kemptons modern versions in overall feel, harder feel to the wool and the neck is not as wide as the 70s one I own. Waiting for a 60's J&S sub to arrive which will mean I have examples from the 50;s, 60's, 70's, 80's ear;y 2000's and this decade. Think I might have to stop now!!

Here's me own in the blizzardys with my 1938 Irvin and '55 sub combo - certianly does the job!!

There was a really nice sheepskin flying jacket in a local charity shop today, it was too small for me which was a shame. Oh well, I'll keep looking. It would have been good to combine it with one of my Sub Roll Necks.

Anyone have experience with Aero rollneck sweaters? I'm trying to decide between their RAF Comforts and RN Submariner ecru coloured sweaters. Both look nice.
