Here is a wide brim Milan that Art Fawcett (Vintage Silhouettes) made for me. The brim is 2 3/4". Beautiful hat.

My favorite from my own collection. A 60 year old Parabuntal body, found in a Winchester warehouse and blocked by Major Mike Moore, Buckaroo Hatters, Covington TN

Thank you, Mike. I'm still madly in love with that hat - not least the ribbon. Some weeks ago I spotted a small pure silk pocket square in a shop. Golden yellow on one side and almost the exact the same "fragile" green on the other. That's the first time I ever paid $50 for a hankie - and I'm pretty sure, it's also the last! Haven't regretted it for a second, though :D

For me it was these two that I made for myself earlier this year, specifically for the summer. Blocked to 6" open crown on a 52 block with a 3 1/4" brim.

I have two really nice straws, both from Optimo. One is a beautiful Panama Optimo (yes, it is redundant) that I got at a discount because Graham said there was some sort of flaw in it, although it looks pretty ideal to me. The other is a wide-brim "teardrop crown" style, much like the Art Fawcett Landsman posted above, except that mine has a plaid pugaree band.

GregNYC, you will be very pleased with the quality of Optimo's straws. They are not cheap, but they are worth it.

I'll try to post some pictures later.

It's mid-November, the summer is just a memory, the classic car has gone into hibernation and the straw hats have gone to sleep too, in their comfortable boxes. So, today the sun came out, albeit cold, I gave the old MG a nudge, donned my favourite straw and went for a spin in The New Forest. The hat comes from Esther Weis Millinery and my wife made the bow tie.

Smashing! Esther always makes such nice hats that just look right.

Here in California it’s still in the 70s and even low 80s so it doesn’t feel much like November.
