You guys are making me hungry!

Let's see...homemade lemon pie, cherry, apple, and strawberry rhubarb (or however you spell that). French silk is awesome, too - all that yummy chocolate...I love just about any kind of pie and will TRY just about any kind except pumpkin and pecan.

I love warm pie with whip cream on the top...YUM.

Chestnut and mushroom. Cornish pastie, veggie style. And for dessert it's got to be rhubarb, cherry, or lemon meringue. All home made. Except for bakewell tart - that's a definite Mr Kipling buyer. Oh I am soooo hungry. :)

Nobody likes pork pie?

..what size is it? And are there any rips, holes, tears, stains or odors associated with this pork pie?

Over there...
It kinda depends on my mood. If I'm in a "cream pie" mood, it's coconut cream. For fruit pie, apple. I also have a real soft spot for pumpkin. My mom made pumpkin pies every Autumn when I was a kid out of fresh pumpkins my dad grew. Yummy!

This thread brings up a story. A couple of weeks ago, I had a birthday and my staff had a sort of impromptu surprise party for me at work. One of them called my wife of 19 years to find out what kind of cake I liked. My wife, who generally is very well informed in such matters, told them I had a special place in my heart for cherry pie and I would much rather have that than a cake. Now, I have nothing against cherry pie. I enjoy it when it's offered. But if you were to set out a cherry pie and an apple pie side by side, I would choose the apple approximately ten times out of ten. I like cherry lifesavers, cherry sno-kones, cherry jam, Aviation cocktails, etc, but when it comes to pie, give me apple. She's not really certain why this thought popped into her head, but there it is! We laughed about it a lot. After all these years, there is still some mystery... ;)

By the way, if you are looking for a really, really good apple pie and you find yourself in the Chicago/Milwaukee area, go to Mars Cheese Castle in Kenosha, WI. I got a couple of pies there when I was in Chicago about a month ago. They were the best apple pies I have ever eaten (and I've eaten some good ones). Very highly recommended. And I believe they do mail order.

Oh dear, how could I forget pumpkin pie and lemon icebox pie?! Two more favorites!

Of course being in Texas, pecan pie also rates pretty high up there.

Come to think of it, I don't believe there is a pie I *don't* like! I even like mincemeat!

I think that's how I feel too! But if I *have* to pick I'd go with apple pie, lime pie (the kind made with cool whip, lime jello, vanilla pudding and limes) and pecan pie.

To eat: Boston cream pie (okeh, I know that is stretching the limits of "pie"....)
To bake (and eat, too!): Pumpkin custard pie (the best of both worlds), strawberry pie (you can make it in your sleep). Or an apple crumble (apple crumb pie with no bottom crust) is fast and enjoyable.
I have a Depression recipe for "Mock Cherry Pie" (actually a cranberry-raisin pie) which is surprisingly good.

I seem to have the most success with 1 part lard, 2 parts butter, in crustmaking.
