What's the next Golden Era goodie they'll revive?

Like Lincsong and Jake Fink...

...I would love to work only 60 hours per week.

But in the spirit of other comments, I must say I'm glad to have the work! One thing's for sure: I never have time to get bored.

Oh, and to John in Covina, who called for a return of "the right to carry hand guns, submachine guns and even silencers!" -- We have that right, constitutionally. What we need are politicians who will let us exercise the rights we already have.

I think the next Golden Era goodie that should come back is the end of Prohibition. Last time it was alcohol. This time, the other drugs. I don't want to use them personally -- not my thing -- but what was ludicrous for liquor is similarly wrong for pot, for example.

Thanks for the warning, Senator Jack.

But as long as people stay on topic, I have nothing to fear, right?;)

Honestly, with all the pro-liquor comments, "gangster" discussion, and general bon vivant atmosphere here, I have to assume people on the FL are pleased the Prohibition of the 20s was eventually -- and quite reasonably -- repealed. The current prohibition is just more of the same, with a different breed of (less well-dressed) gangsters feeding off the illegality of a chosen few substances.

Maybe I should just call for a better breed of gangster.

Decades World, step back in Time!

Back then didn't they use something like arsenic or lead or something to treat sexually transmitted dieases? I'll keep modern medicine and Dentistry.

I still think some wheres they need a "Decade World" like "westworld" where you go, get into costume and character and interact with a 20's /30's / 40's world or what ever time period you could want.

Only this time don't clone the dinosaurs, or have robots to go nuts!

Discretion, personal responsibility and good parenting!

For example:

Discretion - If you are out in public keep your conversations private. No one should have to hear cell phone conversations like this. "What up. I am on a bus. Nothing. He did? She did? F- her! I'm a f- her up!! Shout to you later."

Personal Responsibility- This one is real easy. If you hit and damage someone's car leave a note!! If you damage property, you pay for it! Do not wait for them to have to ask you to make amends. Do not make them look like the bad guy for your mess up.

Good Parenting- Moms and Dads this one is for you..
A restaurant is for eating it is not your child's playground.
A movie theater is for seeing movies it is not your child's playground..
A department store is a place of businesss it is NOT YOUR CHILD'S PLAYGROUND!!
And PLEASE stop using the excuse, "they are just kids" if somone asks you to watch your child. Your spoiled children are turning into spoiled adults. I agree children are a handful. Know when to stop having them!

Thank you and rant over! :) ;)

For some of us, those have never died...but your right, I wish it was more common, and not the exception to the current "rule"

Maybe that's what we need...a return to the "rules" of civility...and good dressing. :)
And my spell check isn't working...that should be "you're"...not "your"...

(Where the only Dinosaur is You!)

The closest I've found is a tobacconist in Chattanooga, Tenn., called Burns Tobacco, which is very like a 40s world. Huge selection of cigars, pipes and other tobacco-related products, naturally, but also a spectacular espresso/coffee setup, a shoeshine stand, an old-style barber shop, a fairly decent selection of pocket knives, razors and Montecristi Panama hats for sale, and other attractions.

In the same facility (Chattanooga Billiard Club East location) there is a huge billiards, darts and bar area -- as well as a hall where they have swing dancing and lessons, weekly blues, shag and swing clubs, etc. If you're in the area, check it out. One of my favorite places ever to hang out.

Jam Handy instructional movies. I'd love to live in a Jam Handy world, where bank tellers and car salesmen were polite and respectful, and cared about satisfying their customers.

So what if that era never really existed, it's nice to dream. ;)

I have a friend that wants to open a '30s theme park called "ZeppelinLand".
