I wish you luck on that, sincerely. A return to good manners would be a very nice thing, but it will be a lot tougher than getting all men to wear proper hats.

On the freeway, if I see someone actually using his turn signals, I try my best to give him room to change lanes. That might eventually encourage turn signal useage. It's worth a try, anyway.

I'd like it if people (including myself) could appreciate what we have. Back in the Golden Era, you probably didn't have much, but you were grateful for what you had!

You are right. Far too many of us (self included) don't appreciate what we have. I'm not sure that we would be able to make the sacrifices that our parents and grandparents made during the Depression and WWII.

I have thought that the old classic cameo broach could come back in some form. Sounds weird I know but it's a very identifyable piece of jewelry over most other things and figured it would be back.

Didn't that come back in the 70s and 80s already?

Discretion, personal responsibility and good parenting!

For example:

Discretion - If you are out in public keep your conversations private. No one should have to hear cell phone conversations like this. "What up. I am on a bus. Nothing. He did? She did? F- her! I'm a f- her up!! Shout to you later."

Personal Responsibility- This one is real easy. If you hit and damage someone's car leave a note!! If you damage property, you pay for it! Do not wait for them to have to ask you to make amends. Do not make them look like the bad guy for your mess up.

Good Parenting- Moms and Dads this one is for you..
A restaurant is for eating it is not your child's playground.
A movie theater is for seeing movies it is not your child's playground..
A department store is a place of businesss it is NOT YOUR CHILD'S PLAYGROUND!!
And PLEASE stop using the excuse, "they are just kids" if somone asks you to watch your child. Your spoiled children are turning into spoiled adults. I agree children are a handful. Know when to stop having them!

Thank you and rant over! :) ;)

The return of wood shop to junior and high schools so that craftsmen and tradesmen will come back. How about architecture that shows masonry talent instead of a cement wall and glass?:(

That is a good point. Not everyone has to go to college to make a good living. Those that do not go to college can survive well with skills like that. Good call fo rthe future.

Ah, wood shop, where I discovered I have an unhealthy fear of power tools and machinery in general. I'm sure there's something Freudian in there somewhere...

I heard a story where some woman had her two small kids with, waiting for a table at a restaurant. The kids were screaming like banshees while running around the waiting area knocking into people. After about five minutes people asked her to control her children to which they got the usual excuses but no action on her part to try to calm and quiet the kids. The maitre'de came up and asked the lady if she needed Highchairs or Straightjackets. Shamed and embarrassed she quieted the little hellions.

Pepper spray the lot of them!

(A quote from illogical parents once heard in every store in the USA:
"Stop crying, stop crying or I'll give you something to cry about!" Smack!)
