Hmmm here in the UK we use oil or lard not butter and call them Yorkshire Puddings. I guess lots of cultures had their own version of 'batter breads' sweet or savoury griddled or baked - but made from a basic batter with or without sugar.

Steak and cheese (grated mature Cheddar and mature Gouda), sandwiches with crispy lettuce, tomato and mustard Mayo. On this occasion the bread was Stottie cake (oven bottom baked bread), from a bakery in Seahouses - Northumberland.

Girlfriend is making the first mac 'n cheese dinner of the season. While Joaquim is going to miss us - thank God - he did blow in cold stormy weather. Perfect mac 'n cheese weather.

Paprika sprinkled over mac is also good.... Turkey sandwich from Calabria Deli, diet Coke, and Reese's minatures
with Jacques Barzun's essay To The Rescue of Romanticism, Spring 1940 issue of The Scholar.
