I made a big pot of chili this afternoon. It was just for Jackie, me and our one elderly neighbor. Four pounds of beef and chicken. Lots of veggies, spice and chicken stock. Now we’ve got lots of leftovers. Try as I may, I just can’t cook small.

Stopped at the hood deli last nite en route home, asked for an end cut from a roast beef loaf,
later threw the piece inside the micro for several minutes. Diet Coke and bakery cookies rounded
the repast. I still live like a college kid.

A shrimp po-boy, bowl of gumbo, and an ice cold Dixie beer

Haven't had a real shrimp po-boy in ages. Chicago had a Louisiana brand gumbo at a sit down spoon since vanished.
Couple of years now. Gumbo occasionally flares hither-n-yon here on the Southside, though you need to be quick
and catch it as its all catch as catch can. I typically grab some Campbell's gumbo at my hood CVS.

I had Campbell's gumbo once. Any port in a storm, as the saying goes.

Homemade chicken soup and grilled cheese sandwiches

That is one of those rainy day meals Lady ToE likes to make and I enjoy. Sometimes, I enjoy sour cream and onion chips with the grilled cheese portion or garlic toast/bread with the chicken noodle soup. Either way, I am a very content man after this meal.

I was pretty content after it myself. A fine meal for a chilly evening.

Much more tolerable weather today. Sat out on the patio of one of the local Mexican restaurants and enjoyed some chorizo tacos.

I think it is no sweet that you cook for your neighbor. Not everyone is willing to care for the aged.
