Been trying to eat healthier (more fresh vegetables and fruit) but tonight I felt like meat and potatoes. So I made some boiled potatoes with green peppercorn gravy and a small hamburger patty. It was quite filling and delicious.

My wife and I had dinner at the Mill Pond Steakhouse. We had used the restaurant for our wedding reception so I felt it was the perfect venue for our anniversary dinner. We started off with baked brie followed by steak, twice baked potatoes, macaroni and a nice bottle of Moscato. Dessert was cherry cheesecake and coffee.

The food and that restaurant look fantastic. Hope you had just as good of a time as you did on your wedding night. Happy Anniversary!

Chicken breast poached with fine herbs and white wine. Served with Mrs Ball's Chutney, plain white rice and steamed kale. Glass of Pinot Grigio.

Chicken breasts were on sale, I made the Pinot Grigio from a wine kit, and I like kale. I figured the chicken needed a stronger flavor sauce to go with the kale and the chutney worked great.

Feeling a bit nostalgic tonight, so I’m making “Dorm Room Spaghetti”. It’s probably the first recipe I ever “mastered”. The classic version is made from inexpensive bottled ragu, inexpensive ground beef and whatever vegetables one can scrounge together. Oh, and I’m making it in the same Sunbeam electric pan I had in 1975, when I was in undergraduate school.

American Submarine across from the Cook County Jail deals a 12" roast beef sub with all the trimins, toss in a bag of chips.
Stuff in the bag, stop at the bar, catch the Rock Island out of LaSalle Street Station.
