What's for Dinner?

For some reason tuna and flan don't quite go together. :p

I have seen a slightly different recipe:
Tuna, Sweetcorn and Leek Flan

Ingredients List
1 x Jus-Rol™ Ready Rolled Shortcrust Pastry Sheet
400g Blanched leeks, or frozen leeks thawed and drained
400g Can tuna in spring water, drained
340g Can sweetcorn, drained
6 Medium eggs
500ml Milk
Salt and pepper to taste

Recipe for 12

Preheat oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6
Use the pastry sheet to line a shallow Grundy tin, and crimp edges if desired.
Scatter the drained leeks over the base of the pastry, then top with tuna and sweetcorn.
Beat together the eggs, milk and seasonings and carefully pour into the pastry lined Grundy tin. Bake for approx. 30 minutes until 'custard' is set and pastry edges golden. Serve warm or cold with vegetables or salad.

Obviously Just-Rol is biased in its own recipes. :p

That is pretty much it, minus the sweetcorn... I can honestly say its very good indeed.

I guess they don't serve beer and brats at McDonald's in your country. :p

No... enough brats in my own household, don't need no more... and better beer elsewhere anyway :D

I used to like a MacD's years ago, but I just can't bring myself to enter their establishments any more... I'd rather find a non chain cafe, or market stall, selling something nice instead.

When I look at the recipe rather than think of flan it sounds better. :p It is really not going to be sweet like the flan I am used to and more savory. That would work better to put my mind at rest. I can then think of it more like an omelette. :p

Brats enough eh? :p

A savoury flan is basically a pie without the pastry top [like a man without a lid] and not as wet... my wife adds a criss-cross, lattice, of pastry on top. Its more like a Quiche Lorraine, and completely savoury... Yes the filling is a savoury egg custard, that does resemble an omelette when cooked and set.

I've just finished the meal, and it was very good indeed.

Brats enough, yes!... love em deeply though.

At least your McDonalds look more interesting than ours. :p

Aha! You didn't mention the top crust. I was thinking more of:

Quiche is another good analogy. Glad you liked it. :cheers1:
