have written on your tombstone?

Here is what mine should say =
Here Lies Chas.
1963-20??
"Good In Bed"

What It WON'T Say:
Here Lies Chas.
1963-20??
"I Wish I Had Done More Housework"

What They Will Probably say...
Here Lies Chas.
1963-20??
"Sure Is Quiet Around Here Now."

I sell life celebration memorials (grave markers) and I'd like to point out to everyone that the "dash" between the dates is the most important thing about the whole marker, it represents a whole life lived...
by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end

He noted that first came her date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

Not bad, so far.... I was hoping that more FL'ers had a more of a sense of humor 'bout their mortality. If you can laugh at that, you can laugh at anything..

As Woody Allen said, "It's not that I'm afraid to die, I just don't want to be there when it happens."

Bruce Wayne, you win! Great post.

Chas, whistling through the graveyard, or laughing about death, is a healthy thing. I'm surrounded by death, to the tune of 650 deaths a year at work, and most of us in the trade develop a weird sense of humor, as a coping device.

Let's see some more headstones!

What It WON'T Say:
she sure was quiet

What They Will Probably say...
she sure talked a lot. lol

as I plan to be 109 I have a bit to go.
We will probably have graphic headstones by then that you can change constantly from a computer somewhere.

Hmmmmmm this is tough.

What I would like it to say:
"Help, I'm still alive! Dig me up!"

What I don't want it to say:
"Died young"

Here is what it will probably say:
"How did I get here?"

I think mine will be "He's Not Here - He Decided Not To Go".

But if I have to go, I want to do it in style...

What I want:
Here Lies Undertow.
1981-2054
"I lived my life, and all I got was this lousy stone"

What It WON'T Say:
Here Lies Undertow.
1981-2054
"A gentle, sane creature who abstained from screwin', gamblin', cussin', shootin' guns and never drank a drop of whiskey."

What They Will Probably say...
Here Lies Undertow.
1981-2054
"He was beloved and...wait, who died?"
