What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

99 River Street on TCM. A pretty good flick.

Oh, yeah...It was better for me the second time, Touch. John Payne made a few films in which he was the quintessential man-in-the-middle (although in one of them, The Crooked Way, he actually was an ex-gangster). He and director Karlson made some good films together. What did you think of the televised fight scenes he was in?

Liked it and plan to watch the movie all the way through again this weekend during our trip to the coast. That and another very entertaining flick, The Set-Up. It was also nice to see Eddie Muller co-hosting on TCM tonight. A fun night on TCM.

Never saw it before tonight... it was great. Puddin' was screaming during the last scene. I loved it when he had the bad guy on the ground and he was kickin' him as the cops were pulling him off. Also the beating he gave that other hood in the apartment was realistic as hell and top notch. Did you catch the ultra long single take of her on stage describing the rape and murder... fantastic!

I missed a bit of it here and there which is part of the reason I am going to watch it again this weekend. The beatings were nice to watch. Nice in the sense that they were done well and were just.

Yeah, that is quite a long take; kind of reminiscent of the extra long single take in Gun Crazy, when the two protagonists drive a car down Hollywood Blvd and Las Palmas...I thought Evelyn Keyes' best scene, though, was when she played a floozy at the bar, towards the end.

Im watching Vanillla sky. A friend saw it and was talking about it so i figured what the heck.. I never understood why cruise became a big star- not because he's a poor actor but because he just doesn't stand out to me. He's serviceable in most roles, the only one that really stood out for me with him was Collateral.

Interesting discussion about the Dark Knight Returns graphic novel versus Watchmen, and the adaptations. I read Dark Knight when I was a teenager and loved it (and still do), while I read Watchmen as an adult and was underwhelmed. I think WAtchmen is a bit too soap opera or HBO for my tastes. I guess I'm probably in a minority on that. I agree that Nolan's Batman movies #1 and #2 are great, although I think #2 should have ended when the warehouse burns down with Batman silouheted(sp) against the flames; I think the extra 30 minutes of the Two-Face secondary story was unnecessary and seemed to water down the impact of the previous 90 minutes, at least to me.

I watched Captain America recently and found it enjoyable and satisfying.

I am planning to see either Batman #3 or Dredd later this week when I visit a friend for "movie night". I have the opportunity to see a copy (cough cough) of Tarantino's new film, which a friend swears is excellent, although he's only watched the first half. Does anyone have a review of the Tarantino film?

No... while I agree with your general assessment of him as an "actor" he was also great in "Magnolia" and "Tropic Thunder". Which shows that even a blind squirrel can find a nut every once in a while.
