Speaking of James Bond, there's a rumor floating around that Damien Lewis (Band of Brothers and Homeland) might be a candidate for the next Bond.

I would be totally on board with this choice.

I really like Damien Lewis... but I don't see him as Bond. He has an innate gentleness that comes through, even when he's played military men like Col. Winters, Sgt. Brody, and Henry VIII. Bond needs to scan as colder and tougher. None of the Bond actors apart from Connery and Craig have really managed it.

+1 on that !

But imagine the impact it would make with Lewis as Bond.

To give the appearance as you described & yet
be able to commit a cold or tough action when required...:eeek:

Cary Grant would've been grand.
With Connery / Craig, I kinda knew what to expect .

Bullitt with Steve McQueen. In 1968, I came for the Robert Vaughn, stayed for the car chase!

The car chase is justly famous because it's completely unlike any one before, and nearly every one since. The sequence doesn't LEAP into the chase. It begins in a leisurely fashion, a cat and mouse game between Bullitt and the two hit men in the Charger. Then, wham, we're off and running. And that isn't even the true climax of the film.

Oh, and I made a trip to the actual theater to see Jurassic World. Yes, we got big action scenes; yes, one major dinosaur and some smaller ones get loose. I loved Pratt's Owen Grady, racing into the darkness with his raptor pack leading the way. And it was great for once to have a solid male lead who handles things without apology or waffling around; a smart female lead, Claire, who comes to realize both her limitations and her strengths (which are different from Owen's). She has the sense, when Things Get Really Bad, to yell for his help, and to back him up without getting in his way.

Y'know, the way movies used to portray men and women.

Damien Lewis is a redhead, and I remember the stink they made about Daniel Craig being a blonde. So guess we'll see. :D
When I first heard Craig had been cast as Bond I immediately began calling him "James Blonde". Then I saw Casino Royale, and the jokes stopped. lol

Is Craig done after the next one? His choice I assume?
I recall reading an interview with Craig just after Quantum of Solace had been released in 2008, and when he was asked about the next Bond movie his response was something to the effect that he felt he was getting too old for the physical requirements of the role (i.e., he was still feeling the fatigue and effects from injuries he suffered while filming QoS), and wasn't sure how many more Bond movies he'd appear in. Of course, since then he's appeared in Skyfall (2012), the upcoming Spectre, and four other theatrical movies, so only time will tell.

If you enjoyed Bullitt, you may like this.
It is not just a Youtube of the chase.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhSDAxgLgho The chase starts about 05:30
If ever I go to Frisco I am going to search out these locations.
When my son was small I built some 1/32 versions of these cars and slot raced these scenes over and over :)

From what I've read, he's reportedly signed on to do one more Bond film, but after that, I think he'll be done.
