I'll Lock Up
Murder by Television
"James Houghland, inventor of a new method by which television signals can be instantaneously sent anywhere in the world, refuses to sell the process to television companies, who then send agents to acquire the invention any way they can. On the night of his initial broadcast Houghland is mysteriously murdered in the middle of his demonstration and it falls to Police Chief Nelson to determine who the murderer is from the many suspects present."

Bela Lugosi did an interesting job here playing two roles.

Interesting film for 1935; saw it in a theater about 25 years ago...

Recently saw Highway Dragnet (1954), with Richard Conte, Joan Bennett, Wanda Hendrix, and Reed Hadley. Korean War vet (Conte) is accussed of a Las Vegas barfly's murder, and hijacks Bennett and her convertible (and Hendrix) for a ride through the Nevada desert, on his way to the (partially submerged) family home at the Salton Sea. More could have been made of the script, including using the flooded family home as a metaphor for Conte's character's predicament, but it was entertaining none-the-less, including great views of early Vegas. One scene that was a standout was when Conte, while being held on both sides by detectives, fell back, lifted his legs up, and kicked Hadley right in the kisser!
