It's only 3 months away so the time has come for me to ask those who have attended in the past--what do I need to pack for the Queen Mary event?

Do folks dress up for the Friday dinner as well as the formal on Saturday?

Do people change clothes during the day?

Does it turn chilly at night--should I pack a coat?

All help is greatly appreciated!

Im planning to pack 3 outfits a day.
One for morning casual, one for afternoon lunch, and one for the evening.

But thats just me :)

Bring what you like :)
Bring a coat since last year it was very foggy and moist- no good for the vintage duds.

I'll probably be more casual, but any excuse to wear evening clothes is a good one ;)

I had questions about this too, how formal is friday compared to sat night, is there any other formal times, or is the rest pretty much casual

Is there a "in" decade that we need to dress? is it just 1940's, or can I break out my flapper dress and 1930's gowns and finger wave my hair?

What time does everyone arrive on Fri? ( or thurs)

Can anyone give a break down of events and what outfits we should bring??

TIA!!!!!!!!!

Can someone direct me to information on this event?

I adore the Queen Mary. I was just telling my beloved about it the other day.

http://www.thefedoralounge.com/QM2007.htm here is some info regarding the 2007 QM event. if you go through the older posts there are pictures of previous events.

This is my first, so what I have to say is from what I have read in various threads.

1. The Fedora Lounge and Club Obi Wan join for this outing [Club Obi Wan is Indiana Jones Gearheads]
2. some are arriving thursday
3. Friday looks to be a dinner from the menu [buy what ya want as expensive or inexpensive as ya want. I suspect the Indy people may be in their adventure clothes may not be as dressy? BUT....]
4. Friday after dinner, There will be a showing of Raiders of the lost ark. ticket info to follow. LOTS of Indy gear this time I bet
5. Saturday day the gear heads will be off somewhere cracking their whips etc:D
6. There is also a Fedora Lounge tour of the Queen comfy walking outfits?
7. Dinner Saturday night dressy, some go all out with dinner jackets etc. many more dark pinstripes of course as a male, I can tell the difference between various fashions for men better than women, I love the way they look, just not real good at telling the difference in women's styles.

the one thing I ask ALL that are attending to bring is their best smiles, I will be with camera and I plan on bringing LOTS of film.

for those who have attended before, if you have a special spot on board that you would like a picture taken please let me know, have camera will travel;)

like me, there are several double dippers who post on both boards, dress as Indy and 20s-50s ish

I for one have a hard time waiting....

Oh goodness, this is all getting overwhelming! My boyfriend and I want to go, but I doubt we'll have the money to get rooms there. And I doubt I'll be wanting to do full wardrobe changes in the restroom!

Well, I've gotta keep up with my roomie don't I? ;)

Seriously, this is what I was thinking of doing as well (where else do you get to show off your duds?).

I'm wondering about the Friday night dinner too--long dress? Fancy short dinner dress? Decisions, decisions. What have people done at past meets?

Thanks to all the gals who have posted too.

well I bet there will be some people on board that would be willing to lend a stateroom for a change or 2.....

As a resident of Phoenix... I often forget that there is a thing called cold weather. I have been known to walk around in opened toed platform stilettos outside, at night, in the middle of winter, in Minnesota, wearing a dress and a jacket. Not the most comfortable thing mind you... but I don't own winter clothes. Now to prepare for the QM... I figure I will need an evening coat or jacket of sorts for the nighttime breeze, but what is the temperature like during the day? Will a nice day dress suffice or should I look into bring wool suits (skirts) and a less elegant more simplistic coat? Will a darling fall/winter suit be too hot?

the down side is it is in November,

the up side is it IS in Southern California,

the down side is the beach is cooler than inland

the UP side is if you stay on board the outside weather won't be an issue

the down side is they may have the climate controls set lower than you are comfortable with:eek:

I guess dress a little warm but not for FARGO in the dead of winter

Saturday night is the super fancy night. I'm not sure what's going on friday, but I think I'll be with Club Obi Wan, so I'll be pretty casual.

Yes, I second the question: What is the differance between Friday and Sat night in terms of formality?
Friday night is dinner off the menu, and dress is more casual. After dinner Club Obi Wan will be showing Raiders of the Lost Ark [tickets will be made available soon] I suspect a bunch of Indy dressed people here along with suits or sport coats. There are many that post on both boards. Saturday Night it has been explained to me as a night fitting of travel on the Queen Mary. for Men Suits or Tux Women dresses, fancied up as it were. Dinner is by ticket and there is a limit of 100, MK expects to sell out before the event and no tickets will be available at the door. Hopefully there will be tickets for all that want to go. RSVP to MK for both Friday and Saturday
Dejahthoris from COW will be posting about the movie tickets when that is all set up.

Dan,
not an organizer, just an excited newbie

Ooh, fun! I haven't seen that movie in a million years and I bet it will be extra fun with so many enthusiasts in the audience.

I wondered if any other movies are scheduled to be shown? With this group I'd imaging a screening of any of the classics would be popular.

*edit* I've never seen Raiders on the big screen and it's my favorite movie ever, so I'm excited! Tickets are really limited for that as well. They're going to try to make it like an "adventurers club" inside. SO excited about that!
