Hi hat dude
I just like the smell of a real tree. The real tree reminds me of Christmas long passed( my young days LOL)
Take care hat, I enjoy reading your post.

Thanks at least you're one(haha)I'm fortunate enough to have a Christmas Tree farm 3 driveways away from my place so we always have a real one,yes they do smell nice but they can be a pain also what with needles fire risks ect.We are fortunate living in the frozen north but there has to be some benefit to 8 months of winter?

Our turn-of-the-century German Feather Tree has its points, I think. The 4' tree displays as many ornaments as a 7' natural tree, and being incombustable allows us to use candles safely.

Well, not a recent invention, but one I curse at and will forever.

Humans having short arms.

Why?

Because whenever I have an itchy spot on my back, it's ALWAYS somewhere I cannot reach. I don't have a regular back scratcher, so right now I am using part of a broken curtain rod until I actually get myself a proper back scratcher!!

Ah the limitations of man, just like it's impossible to lick your elbow, not that there's any reason to do so.

I see you all out there trying to lick your elbows, must say you look pretty dumb(haha)

I have one but when I need it she's usually out doing something with the horses.(haha)

Since we are on the subject, my 5ft Aluminum Peco tree will be used this year, instead of the white fiber optic one we usually put up.
Why? Because the white one is under a lot of stuff, stacked neatly on top, and I don't care to disturb that. :)
I'm allergic to pollen and the real tree usually stopped me up, so I too have grown up with an artificial one.
This is one invention I embrace fully. Although they can get crazy, such as a water filled trunk to create the illusion of bubbles in the center of the tree. A hollow tube full of water, around all the presents? Oh nothing can go wrong there....

I'll get back on track and say "modified foods."
Not sure what they put in these things, but if my parents and grandparents didn't need it in their food, I don't need it either.

That happened right about the time that pharmaceutical companies were allowed to advertise prescription drugs to the general public. Get rid of that blight, and you'll get rid of the other.
Drug companies convincing the public to use dangerous drugs haphazardly is an old practice that was lessened by the requirement for prescriptions. This is a case where the world reduced a problem then turned around and found a way to bring it back.

Myspace, Facebook, and all of those other personalized social networking sites. They've all bred a new breed of narcissism in today's youth and it's sickening. While I am guilty of having a Facebook myself, I only use it to chat with other close friends who live hours away but rarely post any status updates.

Other than that, probably just Auto-Tune and DRM software.

Too many to count! Cell phones, Televisions, Ianythings, "dress casual/business casual". Most media technology is a double edged sword- it allows us to recieve information in seconds if we want it, but totally destroys the idea of patience and understanding, we have no reason to read a book on a historical subject for example, we can just punch in a name, we no longer have to know how to read signs or follow directions when we've got a GPS spoonfeeding us our way around the town. All i need is your name or an idea of where you work or some snippet about you and chances are a quick check online will give me your interests, birthday, job, and circle of friends on facebook or some other networking site. But some of the information we can find online is info we'd never see in real life- for example if it weren't for the fedora lounge, my own knowledge of what constitutes "vintage" would be far inferior to what it is, and how difficult would it be to actually find it, or to even find a hat store without the help of a google search! Likewise for books, music, etc. Back in the day when you heard a song you liked on the radio, you had to listen to it beginning to end and hope the title/artist was announced at some point in order to know who sung what, if you missed it you had to wait for it to pop on again.. nowadays just three or four words from the song in a google search and we've got the whole song no problem. Its a double edged sword, it gives us a near infinite about of information, but destroys our ability to wait and to an extent our own personal creativity..

Really stupid question but isn't this pretty much the same thing? You don't think there are any narcissistic folks on this site as well?
