What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Storm rider 2 of 4. This one is a heavier denim than the first. Stone washed. I sold 8 jackets this week and bought 4. (All storm riders). If you ask me these are the best denim jackets ever made.
In typical fashion as soon as the weather is cold enough for leather, I immediately turn back to denim. Never fails.

I’m not even shy about the Texas tux anymore. I embrace it actually. LOL.
How long (or rather, short) are these in the back?

I have a non-storm rider Lee from the seventies and it’s 21 inches in the back. I love it though but it’s really short.

Of the two I have now, one is tagged a long and the back is 24”. The other has no tag and has most definitely been through the dryer with 23” back. Interestingly enough neither one feels short in back. They do have a hefty front drop but they also hug my lower back so they sit right and the curvature of my lower back. My suede Schott ranchers do this too. I think for shorter styles there’s no room for the jacket to flare at the waist and a front drop is a must!

I'm the opposite - whether zipped or unzipped, I feel that jackets look more balanced with chest pockets unless they're like the Aero Stockman or Work Coat. If they're centre zipped I definitely prefer a zipped pocket; other buttoned jackets an open pocket. The one 1950s HB I own has no chest pocket and I've often regretted not asking for one.
YMMV

Apart from being visibly ‘cleaner’ I think that without a zipped pocket, or at least a zip with visible puller, a jacket style such as the Highwayman can have less of a biker vibe about it.
Obviously a very personal thing but I find that I can comfortably wear the jacket which doesn’t have a chest pocket in more varied situations than the one with pocket and a ball&chain puller.

I went through a patch of wanting chest pockets removed (I never have inner chest pockets), but I think I just got used to them. I once thought about simplifying a Cafe racer to have no zip pockets and just slash pockets at the sides, but I couldn't do it :)
