Took these in a hurry, but finally got a chance to wear this chocolate brown suede Aero Type III (I think from the 90's). Easily one of my favorites.

Vanson maverick in Vancouver bull hide. This leather is very grainy and somewhat thinner than my AEROS,THEDIS and of course my lost worlds lol. It is windy and 48degrees here in Milwaukee right now and my Vanson is doing amazing. Will probably get another VANSON MAVERICK but in black CXFQHH OR a thicker leather View attachment 363870 View attachment 363871 View attachment 363872
been waiting to see this leather out in the wild. Looks really rich. I don't think Aero will do a type 3 in very thick leather. Probably Vicenza or Badalassi is a good mid point.

I bought lunch from a street vendor near the jacket workshop, so i walked in to try again.
The front belt loop need to be made longer since it doesnt fit 2x thickness of the belt ( i use vegtan 4mm belt).

I didnt ask for forward rotation for the sleeve on this since I want more creases along the front of the sleeve.

can not wait to spray some water on it to shape. those collar and lapel would look and behave a lot better after wet shaped.

That looks great! Nice to see you trying a new style as well. When is it expected to be finished?

Yeah didn’t someone say they recently tried to order one in CXL and Aero said no?

I get it - mine is stiff even if it’s not mega thick or heavy and the patch chest pockets w flaps make for a lot of layers of leather to break in.

Edit I hit send too soon: This jacket looks great in this hide, it reminds me of one in battered steer that had been posted to the classifieds a while back.

so cool, enjoy the rest of your trip! is that a new jacket to take home with you?

that's a nice shade of brown and seems like a great fit. I was wondering how this Vancouver cowhide will look with a trucker pattern and yep it looks awesome. congrats
Thanks. It’s an extremely comfortable leather and amazing grain right away. Looking forward to what it looks like in a year

The weather is finally a little cooler in NYC, so after a long hot summer I feel like putting on a jacket again and taking a few pics for TFL. This is a new to me 1960s Bates. I did not know how a vintage CR should fit until I got this Bates. It only took about 10 tries...:). Now I know why @handymike loves them.

Superb!! J-100 gets all the credit for being top dog on vintage CR’s but imho, I think these Bates CR are the true champion. I’ve had a few. Each one better than the last. The definition for how a CR should fit. Well done! Looks perfect all around!

Bates and the Harley Sportster cornered the market, for sure.

I’m looking for some brutally honest feedback and advice. I have this Double Helix Deviant, that I can’t return. Depending on the day and my mood, I think it either fits perfectly—Or it feels just small enough to make me not want to wear it.

And honestly, I realized when I went to take the pictures that there’s only one position that grates on me: When my arms are down by my side. But then, how often will I actually be standing like that? I feel like in that position, I’d like just a touch more space in the shoulders. One size up would give me 2cm more in the shoulders and chest, and 1cm more in the arms and length.

I assume the shoulder seems will relax a touch with wear, so that might help. Otherwise, it’s a comfortable fit, as long as I have a thin shirt on and don’t try to wear a sweater. Maybe I just need to make sure I keep my hands in my pockets.

What are your thoughts? @ton312 @Marc mndt @navetsea

Also: I’ll be vacuuming up that dog fur as soon as I hit post.

I don't see a fit problem at all. It appears to fit perfectly! Maybe you're just not accustom to wearing leather biker jackets? IMHO, just wear the snot out of it! After several months of wear it'll break in and form to you. That's a beautiful jacket, she just needs breaking!

that's a perfect fit imo. A little bit of a pinch in the chest with the zipper closed, but something like that will settle down with more wears. Same with the back, that'll lay flatter with more wears. Nice one! If you need to layer often, then you probably could use a bigger size, but for tshirt or dress shirt, I think it's spot on.

When you're done with your floors, mine could use some work too. I just moved the fridge and my god. 2 dog, 2 cats, 3 men/boys in the house. If I can figure out some kind of way to recycle all this hair, I'd be rich.

It's clear this is not a jacket for layering but for a shirt only fit I say it looks great, judging by the pics. But of course I cannot comment on comfort. I don't think sizing up would do any good though. Sleeves and body length are perfect as-is. The back might look messy one size up.

To be honest, I'd be quite pleased with a fit like this.

I think it looks fantastic! Reminds me of the fit on my ELMC. I too wish the shoulders were a wee bit wider. That jacket is a very thin hide though so it’s hardly a deal breaker. How’s the hide on that one? Looks pretty stiff/thick. It’ll soften for sure. I’ve found feel vs fit is hard to decipher in pics. I think your jacket looks like a superb fit but I k ow that doesn’t always translate to comfort.
