What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I'd probably subscribe to the (almost) solely interested in jackets camp. I've learned a lot about different jacket makers by being on here and also purchased a pair of William Lennons and a pair of Pike Bros. due to this site- I would now spend more money on better footwear than I would have done before, but luckily I am happy with the one pair, my Loakes and various cheaper shoes and boots. I'm happy with Aero's pricing and wouldn't pay more (or, weirdly, less) than those prices (I want a Himel Canuck and will never buy one), but I'm sure I'd have been an equally devoted customer to Vanson or another brand if I'd ordered from them first and been as impressed as I am by my initial Highwayman- I don't know enough (and am unlikely to learn about, tbh) stitching, period-accuracy or tanneries to become enthused enough to make a major outlay on a 'better' manufacturer, though it is amazing how much people know about these things on here.

The notion of putting together a public 'style' - let alone asking (or exposing oneself) to advice or critique on how one looks in an item or combination of clothing - is alien to me (I just post pictures of the jackets with the leather in mind) and I have a sense of awe at how folks post their individual 'looks' on fora. I reckon that most clothing looks good on people who are physically fit or slim regardless (I wouldn't put myself in this category at the moment) and aren't carrying too much gut (at a 34 inch waist, I am), and would feel odd if I bought high-waisted trousers to fit a 'look'; I'd just get a longer jacket. I probably only wear one decent piece of clothing at a time, chucking an Aero over whatever else I happen to be wearing on a particular day: the jacket itself rules out lace-up shoes at the same time, but that's about it in terms of overall style. Too long/short/tight' is really subjective- some folks look great in jackets that might be too large for others, and a lot of 'fit' and 'suits x, y, z' might come down to some extent on an individual's demeanour as well as shape.

somehow here I don't shy to post my no brand jackets or local cheap jeans, there is no pressure here I feel with more focused forums, I feel I can be more honest posting just everyday clothes and jacket I truly wear that day, the outfit or photo doesn't have to be interesting or anything.

No idea. I have no clue what sites they are even talking about. I just know how people act on the internet. I am a moderator on another forum and the BS we deal with from grown men, hiding behind a keyboard is unreal. Typical bitterness, rudeness, hazing new members ect ect

There's a great book called 'Kill All Normies' by Angela Nagle on internet viciousness and its power (and impotence) which I'd recommend. Jarron Lanier (sp?) also writes well on the worthless (and seemingly sole) currency of eventual antagonism on many social media sites.

Im with you most of the way HD.. the criteria I use on most occasions is the actual thread the jacket photo is posted in.. for example the WJAYWT thread, if someone takes the time to take a photo and post it, even if it doesn't look great , I always give them a like and move on..if the pic does look great, I might add a comment.
In specific jacket threads such as "My new Aero" etc.. I feel more comfortable to offer any criticisms of fit, jacket construction etc..

Look and fit is very personal. Just like trending style in the past few years of wearing one size too small and low waist skinny jeans is not well accepted here but that is the trending style and therefore accepted by most if not all. I think it is perfectly alright to express personal preference and opinion but has to keep in mind that there is no right or wrong. I don't think anyone can criticize another forum member for making comment about not liking the style but it is another thing when one get comments like that is ugly, that is simply wrong, that is horrible. Even if one tries to put them into limited context like that is ugly, high waist jeans are so out etc etc.
That is what is happening in a lot of internet forum because a lot of the manner, reserve and courtesy go out of the window when not only you don't know the actual person, you don't have to meet the actual person.

I'm more in the camp of if the person is happy with it and doesn't ask my opinion, then I'm happy for him/ her too... in all aspect of life.

When the person ask my opinion then I would be more in stress since I have to think of many factors:
-does this person really ask for my honest opinion or just looking for affirmation
-is it objectively bad or just my taste
-is it possible to be fixed
-is it passable
-is there positive things to say about it to balance my criticizm.
I rather not be in this position, at least never voluntarily.

Standard Fit Aero Highwayman today. It is considering the possiblity of thinking about the break-in process, but for the meantime it's asking me to leave a message which will be ignored in the order it was recieved. :)

Yes, that is a chicken coop in the background, my neighbors have hens, I get to enjoy some fresh eggs periodically.

Another suede trucker arrived. It’s decent. Fairly tight, even with my shrinking physique. No label in it but I think it might be a Brimaco of all things. It’s lined in that grabby nylon that I’ve only ever seen from Brimaco or British cycle racers and it’s the same bright orange too. Collar needs to be worked a bit.
