Wow, I hope mine will look like that in the future. How old is it?
Great jacket!

What size did you get this comet in? And if I may ask, what’s your chest/waist size and height?
Thinking hard of making this purchase.
Sweetfights,
I know you were not asking me the question, but I thought I’d chime in since I have a Comet PLU-3 myself. Mine is a size 46 (As are all my Vansons). I have a 44” chest, a 38” waist and I’m 6’1”.

Hey man, sorry for the delayed reply. I’ve been busy and not checking here as much. This is the Thurston Bros Vanson Comet PLU jacket. It’s a size 42. I’m usually a 40R in suit size. Just measured my chest with a measuring tape and I’m a little over 40” (104cm) deflated, and a little over 42” (108cm) when I puff out my chest. I’m around 5’10” tall, weigh around 180lbs, on the leaner athletic side. I also usually wear pants tagged as having 33” waist (JCrew, Gap, etc), but this varies when I pick selvedge jeans.

The jacket fits me really well, snug when I first zip it up but seems to loosen up and form to my body very quickly and become comfortable. I’ve worn it with an armored shirt underneath for all-day-long riding without issues. It’s a great jacket overall and for the price, it’s quite the bargain I feel.

Vanson Chopper’s turn to be taken out for a spin, along with my Triumph Tiger. I haven’t done this jacket enough justice the last several years so it still looks pretty new. I promise to wear it more often this year - hand on my heart! This is the Thurston Bros version with plain black rayon lining and not the padded lining commonly seen on Vanson’s factory offering. Despite this it’s plenty thick and super bad-ass. Made an effort to show the jacket with open collars, half open, and fully-zipped.

Too cool! May I ask your height and weight and what size you went with?

Thanks torfjord: I’m 170cm x70kg and I went down 2 sizes from my usual 38 ending up with a 34. The Aero grizzly is a similar pattern as the highwayman with the difference that it tapers a lot so I added 1 inch to each side panel. Just to give you an idea, the pit2pit on a 34 is close to 21.5”. I’m not sure I’ll ever understand Aero sizing. It’s a nice jacket though. I went with the quilted lining and it’s fine down to 5 Celsius for me but I’m not good at handling cold at all (Southern European blood ;)).

Aero A-2 this week. Probably my all-time favorite jacket. I haven't ever owned or touched a Goodwear (yet), but this jacket feels about as nice as one can find.

Nick, JC (Goodwear) makes superb jackets, no doubts. But man - this your particular Aero Vicenza A-2 plays in the same league. What a nice leather, what a color, what a grain! Very nice jacket, one of the best ever.

Thanks man! That sounds like a large p2p for a 34 indeed. Did you purchase directly from Aero?
