i blew up the image on my computer and still can't say for sure if it's a fishing lure or not but I don't think it is. Whatever it is, it looks like some funny green yarn or rope. I guess you'll just have to find out when it comes.[huh]

I hope that thing isn't carnivorous!

Whatever that is, it's some kinda ugly!

Big honkin' ugly fishin' lure? I hope not.

Reading the seller's description all the way to the end, it appears they make some potentially ugly films as well.

You have won a Mexican palm straw hat. Not sure what the
green thing is- never seen one before. The "MICH" is Michoacan,
not Michigan.

I have an old one with a nice block and like it quite a lot.
I'll be curious to hear more about it when it arrives.

Hi,

Hey, buddy! That's a fishin' lure, fer sure! Fishermen always keep spare lures in their hats, don't cha know! Just wander on up with the hat and lure and we'll fire up the old Army Jeep and head to river and catch us some catfish! :p

Of course, we catch catfish using what's known as a Carolina Rig, which is a pretty far cry from a lure like that! :p :p

I'm curious to know just what it really is once the hat shows up......

Later!

Stan

Ouch! So, really, don't hold back. Do you think it's ugly?

Now, THAT was helpful. The "Michigan" thing was really throwing me off. You cleared it up as far as the hat type which was my main curiosity. Thanks!!

Hey Stan,

I actually hope it is a fishing lure, 'cuz I'll have no compunction about removing it then. On the other hand, if you see a picture of me in the Hat Of The Day thread with a bass hanging off the back of my hat you'll know I left it there and that it's a pretty effective lure!

Gene

The weave on that is like an extremely fine Jipijapa hat from America Central. It's like the Montecristi of Jipijapas>>>>:eusa_clap :eusa_clap

It is a tassel. I have seen quite a number of 'newcomers' in the LA\Orange County area that wear those types of hats and also cowboy type hats with a tassel hanging off the back just like that. I don't know the significance, if any, but it seems to be fairly common.

Hi,

:eek:fftopic:

Big-fly fishing lures do exist. I have one in my kit for snagging Muskies, and the thing is big enough to use for a tow truck hook!

Seriously, the hook is made from 1/16" diameter stainless steel, is 6" long and the hook circle diameter is 1 1/4". It also has this huge fly-like feather set tied to the shaft that serves to cover the hook itself. It's hugely successful at snagging Muskies on Adirondack lakes, that's for sure! :)

OK, back to hats now! lol

Later!

Stan
