From my fairly extensive collection of black hats, a rare survivor from Vanzina of Pavia manufactured before the era of Borsalino ownership that followed WWII. Vanzina was located in Pavia about 40km south of Milan. The retailer was in Brunico near to the border with Austria and the style shows the tirolese influence with tall crown, narrow brim and deeply curled rear flange.

Being semi-retired the work comes in on an ad-hoc basis. This morning's request wasn't expected so what they will make of the blazer when I get there, who knows? I had actually chosen the cream coloured hat, but when Tina said, "too much yellow and cream," I agreed. Yesterday's hat goes well so it's been pressed into service for another day.
Semi-retired, that's laughable, I have been asked to help out tomorrow. Saturday overtime and I am semi-retired.

First post and might as start with my favourite hat. It is 100% beaver in Western weight styled along 1930 timeline. It was custom made in Melbourne Australia for me. Borrowed ideas from various hats and classic Aussie wide brim.

It is fawn but under some lighting it looks rather grey.

Now open to suggestion how to rotate iPhone pictures when posting them.

Geesch.... I thought it was supposed to be spring! Woke up to 33 degrees here in east Texas! Had to pull out some leather from the closet again. This morning im taking the new American Hat Co lid out for some sun. 5" crown and 3" brim... A bit larger than what I usually sport, so Im debating maybe trimming back to a 2-3/4" brim. Ill give it a few days to decide... might be nice to have a bigger brim around. Got a new ribbon/bow made and it looks way better than when it got here ( no hatband or ribbon). Hat was in surprisingly good condition for a Goodwill auction hat

I think it looks great as is, but I also know you enjoy tinkering with your hats (such talent!)

Robert, that blazer is simply AWESOME!!! And yes, I discovered about 15 years ago that the word "semi", appended to the word "retirement" is really just a (mild) form of self-deception. :D
