Thanks Stefan, I appreciate the information. However, I was simply quoting the fellow I got the hat from. I'm certainly no authority. Here are a few more pictures of the box I have and pix of an actual coffin box. I can see how it looks like a coffin but you are correct as usual.Really cool find, Timmy. The coffin box hats usually come in a different type box. Please post the Borsalinos in the Borsalino thread as well with the labels and such. For posterity.
I would still consider it a coffin box hat though. Just a different style coffinThanks Stefan, I appreciate the information. However, I was simply quoting the fellow I got the hat from. Looks like a great feather weight. Love that color combo
Thank you gents !! I'm staying by the woodstove today. lol.SUPERB hat today, Timmy. Stay warm!
Very nice hat, even with a few tiny nibbles. Is there something to tie this hat to Knox beyond the use of the Latin motto? I have purchased some fine Knox hats that were sold through this retail store but not sure I've seen a Knox hat without the Knox logo.Kind of a low-frills Knox with a fair bit of mothing but I love it anyway. Cold here today! Cheers, David

Friday the 13th is upon us and it's 22 degrees down here @ Rock Bottom. Brrrr !
I have been fortunate to acquire a couple nice Borsalino fedoras lately and shared one with y'all yesterday. Today's hat is a Borsalino Feather Weight that should fit right in with the Friday the 13th theme. You see, this hat originally came from the factory rolled up and stuffed in what is known as a "coffin box", which is about the size of a shoe box, but narrower. The guy I got the hat from was kind enough to pack the hat in a suitable size box to also accommodate the coffin box so no worries about my hat arriving all squished up. Thanks Brent !
The fit and finish on this hat is quite remarkable. The felt is thin and very malleable. I really like the unreeded sweatband and notice that this one also has the Borsalino "corrugated " strip in the front of the sweatband whereas the Columbo I posted yesterday did not.
* I've been informed that the box I have is not a " coffin box" after all. Pics of real coffin box are posted later in this thread. View attachment 663873 View attachment 663874 View attachment 663875 View attachment 663876 View attachment 663872

Hi Alan—Thanks! I googled the logo Moveo Et Proficio and all the hits were about Knox hats, so I assumed it is a Knox. Though you would think it would just SAY Knox somewhere. There is a manufacturers tag behind the sweat but it hidden by the sewn in liner. What do you think--Knox or a brazen bit of brand pilfering?Very nice hat, even with a few tiny nibbles. Is there something to tie this hat to Knox beyond the use of the Latin motto? Good to see you Nathan. Sorry to hear about the flu. Hope you are feeling better. A pod of dolphins always seems to be a nice pick me up.I transitioned to the far side of Bali about ten days ago and promptly fell sick with a bad flu. Yesterday was my first day in the ocean since being in Bali.
Catching the flu straight away was an inauspicous start to my time here, so it was a great relief to have a visit this evening from a school of dolphin (sea mammal kind). This is the scene from my hotel balcony; they are too far out for a clear photo, but it's alway special to have flipper pop in for a visit. A visit from sea mammals turns a quiet bay into a place of magic.

I have been following the hat parade with much pleasure - you guys have certainly enlarged your collections this year in a tremendous way. Here I am with the FED IV a few weeks back before leaving Melaka, along with my good friend from Kashmir whose brother named me The Lost Cowboy.
