Finally stopped raining and got up to 48 degrees this evening. Went out to the patio in a nice 60s 2" 3x beaver Sovereign Stetson. Fired up an old Irish pipe (1948... PRE Republic of Ireland) with what is supposed to be one of Bing Crosbys personal tobacco blends. Channeling my inner Crooner this evening! Just for grins here one of my Stetson Ads with Bing in a Stetson hat with a pipe

29 degrees here @ Rock Bottom this morning. Good sense would have me wearing a heavier hat today but I want to show y'all one of the new additions to my collection. It is a lightweight fedora from Gimbel, established in 1865. The hat features a reed-less sweatband and vent holes in the crown. This hat is so lightweight that it is easy to forget you have a hat on your head.
Hope y'all have a good 'un !

Nice one, Timmy. I don't believe I've ever encountered that maker before.

Nice lightweight hat. The Gimbels name has a lot of history in NYC so I looked it up to see if there was a connection. Appears that Gimbel was a Chicago hat making name going back a long ways. Here is a bit of information:

One of the more unusual hats from my collection, Hawes Von Gal c.1910. Stiff hats and straws show up from time to time but I don't remember seeing another soft hat from this company that faded away after WWI. Condition is very fine.

For a simple hat, that is a neat interior.

The car has had a few problems of late, the wipers being the main issue.
Richard, the MG specialist who looks after it for me, called to collect it.
"Colour coordination," he joked, on seeing me. "What?" I asked,
"colour coordination," he repeated, pointing to the MG. "Well I
have had some remarks," I said and left the rest unspoken.

Anyone would think that I am red & cream obsessive.
