Hey all!
This mid 30's Mossant on a day that started sunny, but finished gray.

This one deserves my best selfie-grimace!
Have a great day!
That's one to earn Mossant their status, John.

It's a beauty, Joe. Love an unlined hat.

"She's a mystery to me" as Roy Orbison said a few years ago.

Branded Bantam it has all the characteristics of a hat from Central Europe

but I have never encountered this brand that was used by the Cappellificio Cervo and by Stetson

This time I'm posting a photo of the paper label and lining, so Steve (mayserwegner) can give us precise information. Thanks

The hat is a magnificent short-haired midnight blue velour and is built with solid components.

Showed on a sunny autumn afternoon in the North East Italy
I forgot to say it was lovely exchange with Panos Cris sometimes ago
Wonderful velour, Daniele. Perfect for the time of year.
J. Hückel´s Söhne "Flexible", possibly 1930s. The smooth finish black felt is light in weight and very pliable. The off-white wide sweatband, gilded liner logo, and liner piping are more inline with JHS Stiff Felts. The overall condition is excellent. I found this Soft Felt back in 2017.

Mauerer Wien established 1873 are still in business today.

I haven't encounter any hat company having hanging cords as early as JHS so JHS may have been the first. I believe this is only one I have with a barbed knot.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Grand-Prix Paris" Display, possibly 1920s - 1930s. Found this back in 2018.

It's BIG HAT Tuesday here @ Rock Bottom and I'm sporting this Biltmore western that was made for The Dirty Shame hat & boot emporium in Las Vegas, Nevada. It features their Canadian Soleil felt. Very suede - like feel to the felt .

Some impressive hats you've been posting, Tim. They look good on you.
Doesn't get better than that, Alan. Different, maybe, but better: no.
Busy morning here, made more aggravating by what I suspect is the start of yet another danged head cold. Still, hats make me happy, and, being as Timmy and I seem to be on the same wavelength, today it's my Resistol Dry Gulch, in navy.

Equally impressive as Tims' hat, Mark. Love the lapel pin too.

I like the blue color of your hat, everytime I see a blue western style hat I think of the yellow acorn hat band. What type of ribbon is the hat band made of? I have a couple of felts that are khaki green color 120G FEPSA rabbit felts, a two tone hat band might look good on a khaki green felt.

Darrell, all I know is that the ads 40+ years ago described the Stagecoach Collection hats as having "grosgrain" ribbons; at least, those that had ribbons and not macrame or fiber bands. My only thought about finding something similar would be Googling "striped ribbon." Sorry I can't offer anything more specific, or helpful.

Thank you, Timmy! We really are two birds of a feather. I have twice as many westerns as I do fedoras, and no matter how many hats I buy, that ratio seems to stay pretty much the same!

Thanks Steve. It remains a mistery until today.
A question: why they use the trademark Bnatam? Do you think they ahve some link with Cappellificio Cervo or Stetson?
Cuirosity
Daniele, I will try to find the "Bantam" trademark status in Germany. I think your hat could be from the later 1930s early 1940s but can't say for sure.

Thank you Sir, I will have to check with my supplier and see if they can find a grosgrain ribbon that would look good on a Khaki felt.
