Unfortunately, I am back in the land of super slow internet. If I wait about five minutes, maybe half the photos on any given page will load. I’ll have to catch up on this thread once I get somewhere with better internet.

I am fully wrapped up here with my health. Freediving was not the panacea I hoped it would be, but it has given me lots of new information about my symptoms. This next week, I plan to consult of a traditional Thai healer on island and see what they have to say.

The weather has been cool enough here to wear mostly my Stetson silk cap. This photo doesn’t quite look like me (or at least any me that I’m used to seeing in the mirror) which is maybe why it fascinates me so much.

Best wishes to you all from a beach in Thailand.

Echter Borsalino "Qualita Superiore" "Fico" "Lama" date stamped May 18, 1929. The felt has a very soft hand and is light in weight. The band is very wide with an interesting bow design. The sweatband and silk liner are of the highest quality. The Berlin store / hat company (Max Eckard) that sold it did not survive WWII. I found this Soft Felt back in 2015.

Close-up of the Over Welt Brim blind stitching. The angled stitching is visible with brim up which causes an unusual effect where the welt edge looks like it has a saw tooth cut.

The box this hat came with is from a different Berlin hat store (Wilhelm Gaedke) that also didn't survive WWII.

Its definately unusual... Hat felt is actually a greenish tint and the ribbon and binding have a rose colored tint. Its a nice change from silverbelly. I LOVE abnormal hats lol. There is some fading on the ribbon, and Ive already decided that if ever necessary, Ill replace with a new rose ribbon. The green and rose just looks nice. It the back of my mind im thinking of replicating the slightly wider ribbon from the late 1800s army Campaign hat style that is folded into a point

Heres a shot with better lighting

Running a few errands in a 3X Beaver Stetson. This one is dry shapable but going open crown today. View attachment 640658 View attachment 640659
That's my favorite hat to go out with a casual outfit. It's soft and just has a more casual feel to it. Hard to describe exactly why that is, but it's easily the most versatile one I have.

Yours looks great, I'll have to try it with an open crown next time I'm out.

Stetson 7x clear beaver; had to stretch it a little from 7 1/8 to 7 1/4. Fits snug but comfortable. Need to get a liner for it at some point!
I like that swoop in the brim. I've had hats with no liners, and I usually didn't miss having a liner. Sometimes if they have a cool color I feel somehow fashion elevated.

Thanks @MAPip! Yes, it is soft, lightweight and very comfortable. It is definitely a favorite of mine. I usually wear a pinch front but it is great to be able to change the crease based on the mood of the moment :) .
