Sunday, so it's time for the hats of the week. No new rotation yet; I was too lazy for that.

Another spectacular Sunday showing, Stefan! I'm going with the Mossant as #1, the Vallensy as #2, and a tie between the Dalton and the Borsalino Rutenio for #3. Thanks, as always, for starting Sundays in such a spectacular fashion.

This morning I'm wearing a Stetson Stratoliner that was in pretty bad shape when I found it. The sweatband was rotted away from the hat about half way around and the liner was completely missing. For $15.00 I took a chance on this old beater. I added a new sweatband and liner from Etsy and couldn't be happier with how it turned out !

Still a great line up. Amazing what a little sunshine can do. I’m going with the Borsalino Rutenio this week.
Excellent choice Joe, you can add me to that.

Another bespoke hat from Gamble & Gunn, perfect with the shirt that Tina made. She made the bowtie too, from an offcut from an Aloha shirt.

This hundred year old Mikado is a favorite from my collection of straw hats and perhaps the second most interesting thing to come out of Roswell, New Mexico. It was finished in high execution by the Frank H. Lee company sometime during the 1920s. Lee Hats was founded in 1887 and at its height employed 1500 workers in Danbury, CT. The brand became a part of Stetson Hats around 1960 and the Danbury factory was shuttered in 1964. Stetson's manufacturing plant in Philadelphia closed not long after.

Ruby & The 2023 MG NFR 004.JPG

A text came through a while back: "Are you two taking your MG to the classic car show?" A good friend of our's, who is a freelance photographer, was enquiring. He's a good friend and oh how he loves our hats, almost as much as our MG.

This is a local magazine that he does quite a bit of work for. Open it to the: Poole Goes Vintage page.

and whose that in the bottom left hand corner? I had no idea about it until a flurry of text messages came in from here, there and just about everywhere.

Mayser "Spezial" possibly late 1950s. I had forgotten about this Homburg and the last time I wore it was at least 12 years ago. It's a really nice Homburg and in mint condition. Turns out it's pretty much the same Homburg as my recent Bochert Berlin W. Homburg find which was made by Mayser. The minor differences are the liner and sweatband types.

Mayser ashtray possibly about the same time period as this Homburg. The artwork is by Marga Trautloft - Mayser (1913-1998). I found this ashtray back in 2010.
