I'll squeeze my thumbs and cross my fingers for you Nathan. Thanks Steve. I am sorry to hear about your sister. I hope she is making progress toward full recovery.
Thankfully, I am having a LOT more good days than bad, but I still suffer from vertigo and mental confusion and I just can’t drive a semi-truck with those symptoms. I really don’t want to do anything else with the next five years of my life but drive and save money so I’m very determined to get back to full health.
Do you have the expression “squeeze the thumbs” in Denmark? It’s the German equivalent of “fingers crossed.” I hope you’ll squeeze the thumbs for me - it will be two years in August since I had COVID.
can the Akubra Bogart come over to play too?
I'll squeeze my thumbs and cross my fingers for you Nathan.
Gute Besserung, mein Freund.
Mayser "Libelle", possibly mid to later 1950s
Mark, Thank you! Mayser was especially good at that ribbon / bow treatment. This hat also has very precise binding work with 3 rows of circular stitching which are hard to see in the photos. Here is a close up photo from 2021.Very nice! Love the ribbon treatment!
Captain Rob, Thanks! I actually posted a closeup of the brim edge treatment prior to seeing your post. It's very precise work. There are no technical flaws I can detect with the entire hat.Just a WOW!!! The edge treatment and the ribbon are delectable
Bound AND stitched brim... I love it!Mayser "Libelle", possibly mid to later 1950s. This Soft Felt was in NOS and has a "Echter Mayser" Celluloid (just a guess) Label attached to the Sweatband which is the only one I have encountered. Overall this is a fantastic Soft Felt that I found back in 2021.
Back in 2021 I made a reverse image of the "Echter Mayser" Celluloid Label and translated the German text to English.
You Made The Right Choice With This Genuine Mayser.
It is the best German brand hat, made from the finest materials.
It preserves your personal touch and protects you from sun and rain.
You will enjoy it for a long time if you entrust its care to a specialist shop.
David, Thank you! I am not sure if it was ever worn and it must have been very well protected. I can't remember if there was a back story.Beautiful—looks like you just wore it out of the store.
Nathan, Very sorry to hear about your illness but I am sure you will recover in the near future and be back to work. I will keep my fingers crossed! Thanks Steve. I am sorry to hear about your sister. I hope she is making progress toward full recovery.

Fantastic Mallory "Dallas" from you today! I enjoy seeing + reading your posts!
Vielen dank, Nathan.Danke sehr, Steve, das ist super sympatisch. Auch wuensche ich deiner Schwester eine gute Besserung - this is such a weird and discomforting illness.
Thank you. Does your sister have anyone she can compare notes with about her experience? I only know one other person with long-COVID and she lives in Utrecht. If your sister wants, I'm happy to pass her my email address through you if she cares to chat. Also if not, I completely understand - it's just a thought.Vielen dank, Nathan.
I'll pass your good wishes on to my sister in English. She's not good at German

Very nice hat !! I am expecting my "Dallas " to arrive in the mail tomorrow. I hope it's as nice as yours !Premier quality Mallory Dallas for TAR Tuesday. Like all Dallases (I think), this felt takes any bash easily without steam.
Also on display is what I believe to be an early 1990s naked cowhide Schott A2 in very good condition. I didn’t suspect that I would fall in love with this jacket but it came complete with the removable faux fur collar and liner for an unbeatable price so I decided to take a chance. It arrived last night and I haven’t been able to take him off since - I absolutely love it.
So yeah, now I’m not only the guy who wears full-brimmed hats everywhere, but also the guy wearing a leather jacket out in the 80 degree heat.
(To be fair, I did take him off after the photo shoot. Unfortunately, he will have to wait until fall or whenever I return from SE Asia… just one more incentive for me to get healthy enough to get back to work.)
