More very clean examples, Steve. Love those bowlers.

J. Hückel´s Söhne Wien, possibly around 1910. This Stiff Felt was from the time of the Hapsburg Empire. The Liner has a slight green tinge with an JHS Wien Crest. Interesting low profile Box Bow design. The overall condition is very good. I found this Stiff Felt back in 2017.

Brüder Böhm Wien "Ultra" possibly later 1920s. This Wool Stiff Felt is in great condition but on the heavy side at 189 grams. It still has the original size stamp at the rear of the sweatband. I found this Wool Stiff Felt back in 2016.

Another from my bespoke collection, a black hat to a funeral, what else?

Tina said, reluctantly, that you could see her hat too, it comes with an amusing story. We were out with friends a few months ago, My friend took his trilby off and left on the seat beside him, his lady, having just returned from the necessary, pulled the chair out, didn't see the hat and promptly sat on it.

Once the ensuing domestic subsided the fellow held up the crushed trilby and declared it worthy of the waste bin. "Don't throw it away," Tina said, adding, "I'll have it." So it was she inherited a crushed trilby.

In her cabin she coaxed the hat into a dome shape, then carefully squashed the dome flat so that it was even all round she then tacked a couple of stitches to keep it in place. A piece of hairnet, dyed to match the hat colour now covered the crown along with a fabric adornment.

Today she wore it to the funeral, in the style of a fascinator and was complimented more than once.

Here's how a squashed trilby becomes a Fascinator.
