Janyška "Praga" possibly late 1930s early 1940s. This hat is from my 2016 NOS Czech find. Janyška & Cie. was started in the 1920s in Valašské Meziříčí – Krásno about 25 km from Nový Jičín (JHS, AP, BB). Janyška & Cie. was a Czech Hat company based on Austrian Hat making tradition. After World War II, the company worked for a while, but after nationalizing in 1945 , it was then transferred to Tonak together with other Novojičín (JHS, BB, AP) factories in December 1946 . In 1961 , the factory in Valašské Meziříčí – Krásno was closed.

In California, this is the first day we can go without wearing a mask for most activities. In celebration I brought out the first Montecristi Panama I ever purchased from Graham Thompson of Optimo through Caolyn Busch's shop Fino Fino in Palo Alto CA. This Natural is graded as Fino according to Graham and was inspired by Sydney Greenstreet in "Casablance".
