That's a great work horse of a Dobbs, Joe.
Nice job on the new gate.

Out with the old… in with the new. My old beat up Dobbs Twenty work hat to replace our our old beat up wooden fence with the now required fancy new white PVC gate. I’m pretty sure the sweat in my Dobbs is just about a match to how rotten this old fence was! Special thanks to my brother-in-law Dave for helping knock this out fast and plumb!

It is still fairly warm in the Bay Area. In Oakland it is about 80 degrees but out over the Coastal Range mountains it is about 110 degrees. No humidity. Anyway....today's contribution to the thread is a Montercristi Panama that I purchased at Newt at the Royal while on an extended vacation. Optimo does the blocking for Newt's Panamas. This Montecrristi has a short brim in comparision to hats I order through Optimo

If I could give this post more than one like, I'd give it three. One for the job well done, one for keeping such a "well travelled" hat in gainful employment, and a third for posting it amongst all the pristine hats so often seen here.

Up with the sun this morning. Dog soirre in a Stetson Premier Stratoliner. Glorious 61'f temps on my morning escapade.

Morning coffee in a Gannon Playboy (bluemist beaver).

A jaunt to the grocery store before 7:00am in an unlined Stetson Stratoliner.

I cut the lawn and picked up weeds in a Sunbody palm leaf hat. I dosed the hat under the hose when I got hot. The water dripping down off the hat was pleasantly cooling.

A bit later I headed off to visit and drop off cards to a couple of recent high school grads.

We are starting to get a bit of a cool down in the Bay Area. In Oakland the the temperature will probably be in the mid 70 degree range. Enough about the weather. I believe this to be the final brown hat in my collection. This Optimo Manhatten fedora is Mink in color but the fur is beaverfelt. This is another of old edition that I ordered at Fino Fino in Menlo Park back in the day.

H.Matter; Thanks for sharing the hats on your hat rack. You have oodles of gorgeous Optimo fedoras. The felt and straw hats are fun to see. I have been appreciating them of late.

I entertained my brother shortly ago. He came to visit, to sip some Crossfork Creek Cellars Merlot and share some prosciutto/cheese. My VS panama was a perfect pairing. This is not a fine weave, but the semi calado and fit are unmatched on my hat rack. The VS green ribbon treatment is as to be expected - superb.

The necklace is pounamu (otherwise known as greenstone or New Zealand Jade). It is an important stone for the Maori people of New Zealand. The fish hook shape is believed to bring prosperity, good health and safe travel across water. It also signifies one’s connection to water. The greetings at the beginnings of my posts are also often in Maori. I’ve been studying the language since December. The “Kia kaha!” signature at the end is a Maori phrase commonly used in New Zealand, meaning “Stay strong”, particularly appropriate for these COVID times.

Trying something new on the barbecue today, a feta cheese pasta bake.
Since the retirement of my kangaroo leather hat, I’ve been wearing my Akubra Cattleman for grilling.

Sunday chasing the sunrise to get started with escapades found me sport'n a Monson blue felted fedora with a gill ribbon treatment. This has an excellent felt. The tall crown height of the felt allows me to crease it in order to hide the 50's "popular" tapered crown.

Back home and sipping coffee on the deck I wore a FL version of the Akubra CD (it has a 2.5" brim). Terrific hat. I struggle with the ribbon ends as they get distorted quickly.

Check it out rain drops! Let it rain, let it pour.

I removed the liner on this hat as when I get to working while wearing it the plastic tip of the liner would collect condensation and drip on my bald head. The liner protected the inside felt so well it spills all humidity back onto me. Winter snow removal is the worst as the water on my head cools quickly and gives me the chills. Hence - no liner for me.

No time like the present to move some mulch. The needed rain has me changing to a Tilley hat.

Cheers to all, Eric -
