I got home this evening before the sun totally disappeared below the horizon. I took a dog soiree in a vtg. Stetson Open Road. My dog and I have been out walking for nearly 2 hours enjoying the breezy, 63'f (17'c), evening.

Hückel Weilheim "Special" probably mid 1950s.

Hückel Weilheim Hat Holders made by Zeitler - Karton, Murnau / Oberbayern possibly early to later 1950s. The Hückel plates on the fronts are made of a tin like metal and possibly hand painted. The company moved to Murnau in 1949 and are still in business today.

Dobbs Cross Country

A very neat new arrival. This one came off a tip from @TheOldFashioned.

The Dobbs Cross Country a very thin light weight unlined hat.

This one had a cool back story. It had belonged to a woman who in the 1930s rode in dressage competitions against the men and won! She was a very proud tiny woman who loved to speak of the memories of her great adventures until her passing. This was how she kept the hat shaped and along with a chin strap she had made to use it for riding

I opened up the crown and reshaped it a bit into more of a fedora shape. There of course is a bit of memory from the pork pie shape she had it.. but it did shape fairly well. I’m sure some steam would help.

The crown is 5 3/8
The Ultra thin raw brim is 2 3/4 front 2 5/8 sides.
The grosgrain mid ribbon is 1 inch

And now for the bad news... unfortunately while I was looking under the sweat for the manufacturing tag.... the back half of the sweat popped its stitching. While the sweat was very soft and malleable.. This potentially 80 year old sweat is Almost paper thin and tore at the stitches like a zipper. The back side of the sweat was powdery. So I guess this one will need a new sweat at some point.

Cool hat, but the shirt! Grand shirt!

Good Morning Fellas.

Any ideas on this Churchill Panama ? Got it for dirt cheap on shopgoodwill. I liked the colorful band, thinking it would be cool for the beach or pool, but man, what a crazy brim on this thing. Just a big floppy mess. Took me a lot of time and steam just to get it like this, and don’t know if it really fits the hat. It’s not supposed to be a girl’s sun hat is it ?

Thank you Eric.. it is indeed very thin and light... yet still keeps a razor sharp raw edge. Wonderful hat for sure.. and some cool history on this one.

Finally sitting down to the computer this evening. Pardon my tardiness. I was able to visit my Haberdasher, Oscar this morning. I needed to drop off a thumb drive with some historical maps of Albany for him. Picked up a couple face masks. Fell in love with a classic seersucker suit, which I'm too Covid-Fat for right now. Dressed appropriately in a navy double breasted jacket with a matching navy Homburg. This Mayser-Milz Karat Homburg by way of Stefan, before the shut down. True navy color, great felt and shape. A pinch on this one just didn't seem right, took it out and went full frontal formal.

Mike, Super to see a Mayser - Milz! It looks fantastic along with with navy double breasted jacket. By the Mayser - Milz was originally a Straw Hat factory (Milz & Cie.) in Lindenberg until Mayser Ulm purchased the factory in 1929 (name changed to Mayser - Milz and they eventually started making Felt Hats too).
