What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

This week I will feature J. Hückel´s Söhne Soft Felt Hats. J. Hückel´s Söhne was nationalized as Tonak after 1945.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Flexible Seal Velour", Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 2 1/4 inches, probably early to mid 1930s. Only "Flexible Seal Velour" I have in my collection. As usual the JHS Velour is especially fantastic (color, density, pliability, finish). Unfortunately I have caused damage to the liner crest.

Inspired by Joe, this is Day 1 of my "31 Days of Hats" parade. In no particular order, mostly just what falls to hand each day. Today, I ventured out to Home Depot in a early 1950s Borsalino Featherweight. This hat has came from Anthony Amodio and the crease is his creation. Featherweight is a true description of this one, lighter than a popcorn fart!

Oooh, colour me jealous. Spectacular hat, Mike, and with a felted edge to boot.

Stefan, Thank you! I forgot your green aversion. This one will shock your senses! :)

Great German Series addition with the "Halali". I believe it's from Max Wiese Berlin.

Thanks, Steve. Yes, I recall you had one that was altered.

Knox Flying Cloud - Brown

My 30 Days to 30 Hats has ended. I’m excited to see Mike @Redfokker present his 31 day parade along with the Theme weeks from Stefan and Steve. My 30:30 may be over.. but I am left with some great hats that didn’t make the cut so I decided to present them in Overtime. Since it is my OT it will be my rules... and that means I won’t really have rules. I’ll just try to get to them as I feel like it. Maybe mix in some others as I go. So here we go with 30:30 OT:31

This medium brown Knox Flying Cloud I thought would be a great companion piece to the grey Knox Flying Cloud I picked up about a year ago.... which I really love.. The grey one is one with a “Custom Edge” (Cavanagh) and great feel to the felt. This one I think may be a slightly later issue as it has an underwelt brim and glued in liner typical of maybe a very late 60s early 70s release. It does however have the VERY cool flying cloud liner as does the grey one.. though less of a golden look to it. They both have 1 3/4 brims and this one has a slightly taller crown at 4 3/4... though I think it is just how they are bashed... open is probably about the same. This hat along with a Charcoal grey Charles Knox hatter I received... both originally sold at Jacob Reed’s Sons in Philadelphia from a retail price of $30 marked down to $15. A very cool little hat... and a nice start for The OT

Overtime often brings out the best game. These are worth showing for certain!

Hats are meant to be worn even if we like them to stay pristine. What can you do? The felt is more than extraordinary!

Congratulate your daughter for us Daniele. I know just enough Japanese to say "I have a hangover!"

Daniele, Super! Congratulations to Ginevra!

Congrats to your daughter Ginevra and you Daniele! You should be a proud poppa.

おめでとうございます!

Bravo... her smile is a breath of fresh air at the end of a long week. Congratulations to all of you.

Wonderfulness, Daniele.

As they say all across Italy, Mazel Tov to Ginevra and to you and Mrs. Tanto!!

Thanks to all of you from Ginevra and mine.
We hope for a better time and yesterday in an Italian spring we saw a day with the fresh air of almost freedom :)

Day 2 of the 31 day hat parade: The fedora that started my addiction. The "1942 Rose Bowl" Hat. My first bespoke hat by Mike Miller of Northwest Hats in 2016. Made as a tribute to the 1942 Oregon State College Rose Bowl appearance, which was actually played in NC due to Pearl Harbor. We took a page from the 1942 OSC Yearbook and made this hat as an homage to the year. Beaver Felt in pecan.

Just because of how exquisite the felt looks, I'll overlook its greenness, Steve. ;)

I wish that too, Max! And one in a different colour for myself...

A six day hat done in a different way. Some mighty hats in that stack, Randall.

Great hat with an awesome outfit, Michael.

Excellent, Perry. I like the way how all the brims of your hats seem to curve in your style.
Thanks Stefan. It all worked out for a nice bike ride and the finding of a few mushrooms. No morels yet.

German week day fünf. Actually started the day with a false start: an Austrian hat (which I'm not going to show you). Rectified with this:
Halali in blue

Lovely color on that Halali.

Today a special hat for my daughter Ginevra: the laurel wreath.
She graduated at Ca 'foscari Venezia in Oriental languages: Japanese

Congratulations Daniele and Ginevra. And hopes for a long and happy future.

Out with the wife and kids for drive. My VS crossover. I wonder if my complexion is suited for such a light grey hat?

That one was certainly good enough to spawn an addiction, Mike. Looking forward to your 31 days.
