My oil skin coat and Silva & Duertes ca. early to mid 60s beater, short brimmed Fedora for this evening's early December weather.

Everybody needs a good beater (or two). We haven't seen that one before, have we, Steve?

Thanks, Stefan. I posted it just around the summer holidays, but it's one easily forgotten despite its interesting hat industry history.

Well, I guess I know what hat I won't be wearing today...... had just steamed and shaped it. Left in on the upstairs gameroom table then went to watch a movie in the theater room. Came out to find pup pup with a mouthful of straw. <sigh> the look on my face scared the crap out of her and she took off running, smart. I needed a few minutes to regain my composure . Guess I have a new Jed Clampet hat.

I like it a lot! I'm a sucker for short brim fedoras. I'll say 50% of my vintage stock is short brimmed hats.

It looks great and a gorgeous combination with the jacket.

Funny how an Open Road takes on a completely different character when it doesn't have the usual cattleman's crease. Great colour too, Michael.
Thanks Stefan. This one does seem to be a somewhat uncommon color for an OR. I don't much wear them with a cattleman.

My hats made it back after sitting on my hatter's bench a good year. Happy days. Reason to start wearing them one by one.
But first one I changed the ribbon on myself.

Both are woolfelt hats. They could be done right by the capable hatters of yesteryear.
Pretty fine looking wool hats. I think I've only found one wool felt that I thought looked comparable to a fur felt.

Mighty nice one, Michael!

Thanks Dale. I've been enjoying your hat show the last few days. And the family pics.

Thanks all,
Michael
