The coat is beauty Michael, and the hat compliments it so well. But the brick wall background? You could caption that photo with:
"Any last requests before sentence is carried out?" (just teasing my friend.)

Yes, i could wish for a better background, but I have a very limited number of areas where I can leave a tripod permanently set up. The coat is from the late 40s or early 50s. Made in St Paul Minnesota by Zero King.

Thanks,
Michael

In a really grey and dark day, in a short stop of rain I have the chance to wear this Cavanagh

I can show off this American hat because of the kindness of Stefan (Steur) who offered me this beauty in one of our periodic exchanges

It is a size 7 1/2, cost $ 20.00 and the color of the felt is "Midnite". There are others numbers on the paper label to date the hat for conoisseurs, not me. I think it came from the sixties

The hat is a homburg with narrow trim on the brim and a low crown. The ribbon is frayed and dark red-blue in fantastic color

I really like the subtle contrasting colors of the ribbon and the bow

I am very happy to wear it because it is one of the rare vintage American hats I have in my collection
Grazie Stefan!

Thanks for the likes on the Borsalino "Ghiaccio" and your kind words
Buon Lunedì!
Most welcome, Daniele. We both like our homburgs and the Americans certainly have a place in that category as well. We'll try to keep the hat exchanges going as long as we can find these good ones to trade.

Lee All American in the 5'F or -15C temps this morning. Direct low light does not accurately showcase the advertised Buckskin hue of the All American.

Thanks, Steve. I like the colour of that Wegener; they did a very cool shade of blue!
Thanks, Stefan. Ja, I fell for the colour as soon as Manfred posted this Wegener sometime before the summer.
Some great new hat posts from you today on various threads. That Borsa Gorasgu is just super.

Qui siamo nella stratosfera Borsalino!
I forget to say: "maroso" is a rare term in Italina language' used mostly in poem and writing. In English is billow
Thank you, Daniele. Somehow fitting that term then, because it feels like a poem to me!

The hat is good, but man, that coat!
Thanks Stefan. I think the hat is from the 60s, but coats like this had a run from around 1947 to 1952. There were a number of makers, but almost all ads and catalogs I've seen them in fall into that time frame. Wool and rayon blend gabardine shell with alpaca pile lining and mouton collar and lapels. About my favorite kind of coat and kept me nicely comfortable for the hour and a half I was out on the bike today in the 12 F (-11 C) weather.

Actually last sunday's hat, but who cares?
