Thank you, everyone, for the compliments on the floor. It was a labor of love, but from now on it will be hats not floors when I love on them.
I did get to spend a couple of hours Sunday walking the neighborhood with Abel, Liberty and Molly. They introduced themselves to neighbors who were out, and we had a great leaf fight under a sycamore a block over. Lib and Molly are fraternal twins, but I think Liberty was first at the feeding trough in the womb. Molly wears 18 month clothes at 3 1/2, though the pants are a bit short. Her skinny little butt didn't slow me down at all racing Abel.
The straws I made them last spring have survived. Who knows where they are now, after packing and moving in 2 days, but I'm hoping for a picture of us all in hats before I head home.

Thanks, Michael. The Champ needs a bit of sunshine to do some shining of itself, but it's still pretty in low light.
Thanks, Stefan. It's staying dark a lot later in the mornings these days. Does that always happen? ha ha. It's nice and sunny now, I may have to put off my photo session until afternoons until next spring.

Thanks,
Michael

Tapatalk has been trying to get me to join its VIP scheme for a while. Started by only being allowed to post one photo at a time, now its saying I've posted 10 photos already this month and can't post more unless I pay for the VIP.
The cost is negligible, but just want to hear if any other Loungers have gone through this and are VIP members on Tapatalk?

Legend has it that on this day many years ago a pregnant young woman's water broke. According to legend she then drove her 52 Chevrolet, three on the tree near 30 miles from Gadsden, AL to Anniston where she picked up her best friend and they then headed on to the military hospital at Ft. McClellan where I was born. Thanks, Mom. Miss you.

Happy belated birthday, BB! A nice tip of the hat in rememberance to your mom, too. Hope you made it to the brewpub for a celebration!

No forgiveness necessary, Alan. That is one hat worth seeing again and again. Nice find, congrats.

There are no hats in your collection that can be overshared, Alan! Each and every one objects to be marveled at.

Thank you both.

Oddly, I found two old westerns with this Real Nutria Fur mark within a couple of days of each other. One had a white ribbon and white ribbon edge binding, the other black on black with a raw pencil curl edge. I didn't see another for years until a third (this one) showed up. It was identical to the black one and a little better fit. After thinking about it for some time, I put the first one up in the classifieds where it sat and rested for two years until being discovered and quickly purchased by a diligent hunter. I don't think I've seen another since.

I recently picked up a skinny & I had never noticed before the ribbon tails cut to expose tassels. I just figured the owner had done it. Now I notice it on your Churchill. A Stetson No.1Q.

Hey Jack:
Been missing you around here.
Your post got me curious so i did a tour.
It seems most of the single cord ones fray like that. Noticed it on Stetson, Knox, Dobbs and the Churchill. All are westerns and skinny singles. Stetson 3 cord Nutria and Last Drop each were like that.
I think the singles outer ribbon sheath just shrinks up in time. Just a guess but interesting.

All this just from tree drips the morning after a cool night.

This is in the area where the documentary "Bigfootville" was filmed a few yrs ago, & we learned at the cafe that a big search is again coming once the leaves are off the trees. We found him:

Cool and clear today so i grabbed the baca straw cap from Jonathan Cordova on the way to Oregon State archives this morning. It's also aloha Friday for me, so i wore a favorite silk Hawaiian shirt and topped it off with a wool/silk blend lightweight jacket from Alan Flusser.

By chance only, they had a new exhibit on Oregon ghost towns, and the logging town my dad lived in during his high-school years was highlighted.

I grabbed the legislative exhibits needed for the office and snapped a few pics of Valsetz history to share with my siblings and cousins.
